Chapter 125: Accepting feelings

Hua Tianshu was clearly the one at fault for not having made his words clear. He was the one who had started all the misunderstandings but Jie Fu Lin was the one who was feeling embarrassed for having misunderstood the man’s words.

"Why didn’t you say everything clearly...?!" Jie Fu Lian questioned, looking a little frustrated.

"I’m not good with words."

"Then did you learn how to speak during the eight years that I was gone? You can clearly talk right now so how come you had trouble back then?"

Hua Tianshu lowered his head in guilt as he heard this but didn’t say anything. He didn’t know how he was supposed to tell the man that the reason why he was unable to talk clearly was because he was too nervous and flustered.

Just like how Jie Fu Lian had been looking up to him for a very long time, Hua Tianshu had also been noticing Jie Fu Lian for a very long time.

When he met him for the first time, he never introduced himself to the boy and hence, Jie Fu Lian never knew that he had already met Hua Tianshu.

Back when Hua Tianshu saved an unconscious Jie Fu Lian and closed one of the gates to the demon realm, it wasn’t a coincidence. He didn’t just so happen to be there, he had been there since the starting itself and was quietly observing Jie Fu Lian’s actions, wanting to see for himself how much the boy had improved.

When Jie Fu Lian defeated that demon using the string art of the yan sect, Hua Tianshu felt extremely proud of the boy and when Jie Fu Lian passed out from exhaustion, Hua Tianshu felt worried for the boy and immediately decided to take action.

With his sister by his side, he closed the gate to the demon realm and carried Jie Fu Lian back all the way to the Yan sect.

In the whole process, his sister had also been injured but he was still more worried about Jie Fu Lian’s condition than he was for his sister.

He wanted to wait till Jie Fu Lian gained consciousness but unfortunately, because of Hua Meifang’s injuries, the two were called back to the HuiXue sect and had to urgently leave.

After that, the two met once again in the official sword competition held inside the HuiXue sect where Jie Fu Lian was also allowed to join as a participant. It was the first time he was looking at Jie Fu Lian and the boy was also looking back at him.

All this time, he had been secretly watching over Jie Fu Lian but now that Jie Fu Lian was also looking back at him, aware of his existence, Hua Tianshu felt his heart race with an exciting feeling that he had never experienced before this.

It only took him a few seconds to realize what the feeling was and Hua Tianshu finally accepted the fact that he wasn’t following Jie Fu Lian in secret simply because of curiosity. At first, he was intrigued by the boy, and as time passed, he started falling for him. Before he knew it, he was already in love with this boy called Jie Fu Lian.

It was a lot for Hua Tianshu to take in and as he realized his own feelings for the boy, he no longer knew what to do or say.

When Jie Fu Lian fought on that stage with a wooden sword, Hua Tianshu wasn’t that impressed since he already held high expectations for the boy, but he certainly did feel proud.

When Jie Fu Lian challenged him, Hua Tianshu felt as if his heart was almost about to jump out of his chest. He was excited and almost said yes to the challenge, but his rationality was still there and he could see how tired Jie Fu Lian looked so he decided to refuse the challenge in a polite manner.

However, unfortunately, he wasn’t as clear-headed as he would have liked to be and as a result, he spouted words that were easily misunderstood and ended up offending Jie Fu Lian.

After that, Hua Tianshu hardly got to see Jie Fu Lian since the boy entered seclusion.

The next time they met was in the illusion dream where Jie Fu Lian had shown up to saved Hua Tianshu.

Honestly, Hua Tianshu wasn’t worried at all about the illusion dream, on the contrary, he was a bit excited and relieved to know that Jie Fu Lian was also in there with him. He thought he would take this opportunity to naturally grow closer to Jie Fu Lian and perhaps, the two could become friends by the time they were out of this illusion dream.

Hua Meifang also knew of her brother’s one-sided pursual so she used an excuse to get Jie Fu Lian and Hua Tianshu alone together. The plan worked out and Hua Tianshu felt as if they had made great progress in their relationship.

However, Hua Tianshu also got to find out a great secret about Jie Fu Lian that even the man himself was unaware of.

The fact that Jie Fu Lian was a half-demon came as a pretty big shock but at the same time, with this new bit of information, a lot of things made sense. For example, his fast cultivation speed that should’ve been impossible for a normal cultivator but was pretty easy for him.

Although Hua Tianshu was shocked, he did decide to accept it since he didn’t really care if Jie Fu Lian was a half-demon or not since he would still love him just the same.

When they successfully managed to come out of the illusion dream, Hua Tianshu was heavily injured but his recovery was still considered fast enough.

As soon as he recovered, he was allowed to have visitors and Jie Fu Lian came to him first. However, Jie Fu Lian looked nervous and tired. Hua Tianshu thought Jie Fu Lian had come to apologize to him so he decided that it was best to let Jie Fu Lian go back and rest instead of worrying about such a small incident.

Since he was worried that the demon king would come back for Jie Fu Lian who was a half-demon, he also advised the man to go into seclusion for a few years in order to avoid danger.

Unknowingly, he once again caused a misunderstanding and their relationship which he thought was getting better, worsened almost immediately.

After that, Jie Fu Lian went on getting into all kinds of trouble and announced to the world that Hua Tianshu was his enemy.

Hua Tianshu, who came to hear this declaration, didn’t know if he wanted to laugh or cry. He no longer dared to show up in front of Jie Fu Lian. Not even knowing what he did wrong, Hua Tianshu decided to accept the fact that he had somehow offended the man and no longer had any chance of becoming closer to him.

Since he didn’t want to annoy Jie Fu Lian any further, he didn’t dare show up in front of the man as himself and instead, used all kinds of tricks to change his identity as he followed after Jie Fu Lian in secret.

There were times when he acted as if a commoner who just so happened to be a kind soul who was willing to help Jie Fu Lian and other times, he would pretend to be a lost cultivator who would tag along with Jie Fu Lian and help him.

Hua Tianshu successfully tricked Jie Fu Lian and managed to follow the man. Deep in his heart, he knew that what he was doing was wrong but he couldn’t think of any other option that could help him get closer to the man.

When everyone started accusing Jie Fu Lian of colluding with demons and killing innocents, Hua Tianshu was the first one to refute the accusations.

He had been secretly following the man all this time and he was more sure than anyone else that Jie Fu Lian was an innocent man who had only helped people.

Unfortunately, although Hua Tianshu was a witness and could testify for Jie Fu Lian’s innocence, he could do nothing.

If he wanted to defend Jie Fu Lian, he would first need to admit the fact that he was secretly stalking the man because he liked him and that would definitely creep Jie Fu Lian out. He was scared of seeing Jie Fu Lian look at him with disgust and hate so he decided to stay silent and watch.

Since Jie Fu Lian was innocent, Hua Tianshu believed that by the end of the investigation, the real culprit would be caught and Jie Fu Lian would no longer be a suspect.

In order to find evidence that the man was innocent, Hua Tianshu also volunteered to join the investigation and it looked like the investigation was going to end in Jie Fu Lian’s favor

However, things did not go as planned.

While the investigation was still going on, Jie Fu Lian’s father revealed the fact that Jie Fu Lian was a half-demon whom they had adopted.
