On the fifth day, Jie Fu Lian once again received a letter from Jin Long.

’You have outsmarted me but I refuse to give up this easily. I am going to find you and when I do, I’ll make sure that you breathe your last breath.’

This time, Jie Fu Lian wasn’t the only one laughing at this letter, Hua Tianshu was also laughing along with him.

The two were laughing at how overconfident Jin Long was. Even if the man tried, there was no way he would ever be able to find Jin Shifeng.

Hua Tianshu and Jie Fu Lian had thought about everything and made sure that the place they chose to keep Jin Shifeng was not a place that could be found by Jin Long.

Two days later, Jin Long sent another letter.

’I do not know where you are hiding but with my benevolent heart, I have decided to forgive you for your sins and overlook your faults. I am going to give you one last chance to return my wife. If you refuse my offer once again, I would not be this kind.’

Jie Fu Lian once again laughed at this letter and this time, he didn’t even bother giving a response. He simply tore the paper and threw it into the furnace.

Jin Shifeng never woke up from her meditation and acted as if she had already expected all this to happen.

On the ninth day of the kidnapping, Jin long finally gave in and wrote another letter.

’I do not know what you want but for the time being, my wife’s safety is more important to me than anything else. I am willing to cooperate, as long as you can assure Jin Shifeng’s safe return.’

Jie Fu Lian smirked as he read this letter and excitedly showed it to Jin Shifeng as he spoke, "Look at this. Your husband finally gave in. You were wrong and I was right. Even if he doesn’t love you, he would still need to come and save you."

Jin Shifeng mockingly chuckled as she heard this and only glanced at the letter once before she spoke, "He is trying to trick you. The moment you respond to this letter, he is going to ask you to meet and when you show up, he is going to take you captive and possibly kill you as well."

Jie Fu Lian frowned as he heard this and without saying anything as a response to the woman, he turned and went to send a response to Jin Long’s letter.

As guessed by Jin Shifeng, instead of agreeing to hand over the master of curses, Jin Long told him that it would be better for them to meet and discuss things further.

Jie Fu Lian grew furious as he read this expected letter that was meant to be a trap.

He had to constantly remind himself that there were already some others who had snuck into the Jin Sect and were collecting information.

Jie Fu Lian’s job was to keep Jin Long distracted and so far, he was doing an absolutely great job at it.

On the tenth day, Jin Shifeng figured out where she was being held captive.

"Kunlun mountains. The place owned by elder Tai Ho. Quite a great choice to hide a kidnapped victim here. Nobody would ever suspect this place. Does Elder Tai Ho also know that you are keeping me here?"

Jie Fu Lian chuckled as he asked, "How did you find out that this was Kunlun mountains?"

Jin Shifeng laughed at his words and spoke, "There is no need to hide it."

Jie Fu Lian glared at the woman, "I am not pretending."

"Are you not the little Ming that visited our sect with Hua Tianshu?"

Jie Fu Lian’s eyes slightly widened and for a second there, he panicked a little as he wondered how the woman had found out.

"Do you want to know how I know?"

Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this question. If he said he wanted to know, he would be indirectly affirming what she had said but at the same time, he could not just say no and ignore it since he was genuinely curious and wanted to know where he had made a mistake.

Thankfully, Jin Shifeng did not wait for his response and simply continued, "Hua Tianshu, Duan Luoyang, and the little Ai Ming were the only ones who visited our Jin Sect but when you reached the Yu Sect, it turned into Hua Tianshu, Duan Luoyang and an unknown man. Since you used the transportation talisman that I gave, I am sure you did not have the time to replace little Ai Ming with a strange man. So there is only one explanation: The little Ai Ming we saw turned into a man."

Jie Fu Lian cursed himself under his breath as he heard this. He should’ve been more careful.

"Did you think I wouldn’t know what happened in the Yu Sect? Did you forget that the Yu Sect is where I grew up? No matter what happens there, I would naturally know it first."

Jin Shifeng laughed as she added, "It was actually quite surprising to know that Hua Tianshu agreed to work together with you. However, when I thought about it, I couldn’t help but feel that it made sense. Hua Tianshu hadn’t visited the Jin Sect since Jie Fu Lian’s death and suddenly he came to visit under the pretense of forgiveness. Since you are investigating Jie Fu Lian’s death, it makes sense why Hua Tianshu would work with you. When it comes to Jie Fu Lian, Hua Tianshu is quite an impulsive man who would do anything. He is using you to avenge Jie Fu Lian just like how you are using him."

At this point, Jie Fu Lian was a little afraid of saying anything. Jin Shifeng was an intelligent woman and she caught on to the truth real quick. He didn’t want the woman to know his real identity and he was afraid that he would reveal it by mistake through a slip of the tongue.

"Do you want me to make another guess?" Jin Shifeng asked but without waiting for a response, she spoke, "Jin Long was invited to the HuiXue sect under Hua Tianshu’s orders and he did it in order to create an opportunity through which you could kidnap me."

Jie Fu Lian smiled as he heard this and nodded his head as he admitted, "You really are smart. It’s a waste that your husband keeps you locked up inside the Jin Sect."

Jin Shifeng lightly clenched her fist as she heard this and glared at Jie Fu Lian. Immediately noticing her reaction, Jie Fu Lian smirked as he continued, "I really wonder what has changed. You married Jin Long to escape from the Yu Sect that kept you locked up but just how much freedom have you gained from doing so? You left the old cage only to trap yourself in a new one."

Jin Shifeng gritted her teeth but stopped herself from saying anything.

"In the old cage, you at least had Yu Wei. Now, even she has been taken away from you." Jie Fu Lian shook his head with a sigh as he asked, "Jin Shifeng, I really want to ask you... Just what have you gained by choosing the Jin Sect?"

Jie Fu Lian’s words hit Jin Shifeng exactly where it hurt the most.

It was a question that she had asked herself a thousand times and it was a question that haunted her day and night.

What had she gained?

When put in words, absolutely nothing.
