Chapter 151: Mo Yang

A few days later, A child completely covered in ashes reached the doorstep of the HuiXue sect and this child was Mo Yang who had been working as an attended in the Yan Sect.

Mo Yang had a lot of injuries on his body and it was quite a shock that he was still alive despite all of that.

At first, Hua Tianshu was going to ruthlessly send the boy away, however, his eyes trailed down to what the child was holding and he gulped back down the harsh words that he was about to spout.

Even as the boy passed out from exhaustion, he tightly clutched onto the shiny dagger that he had used in order to stay alive.

As soon as Hua Tianshu saw the dagger, he could immediately tell that it was forged by Jie Fu Lian.

Hua Tianshu already knew who the boy was. After all, he had seen him twice before this. The first time was in the illusion dream where Mo Yang played a vital role in saving Jie Fu Lian from losing control over his demonic blood.

At that time, Mo Yang was only nine years old and Hua Tianshu was quite impressed by how calm and sensible the child was. Although Mo Yang was also shocked to see Jie Fu Lian’s demonic side, he fearlessly approached the man and talked to him. Even when the left the illusion dream, Mo Yang never carelessly talked about what happened in the illusion dream. Just like Hua Tianshu, Mo Yang also kept Jie Fu Lian’s secret.

The second time he met the boy was in front of the abyss where Mo Yang was also getting ready to head in and help look for Jie Fu Lian.

Mo Yang was too young for the abyss and when they split up, Hua Tianshu was a bit relieved to know that he was paired up with Mo Yang. If the boy had been paired up with someone else, he would have definitely not made it out of the abyss with his soul intact.

Although Hua Tianshu was still in shock at that time, he made sure to protect Mo Yang as much as he could and brought the boy back alive. However, the boy was also quite talented and left Hua Tianshu feeling slightly impressed at how fearless he was in front of danger at such a young age.

Inside the abyss, the boy solely relied on the shiny dagger that had been gifted to him by Jie Fu Lian. When Hua Tianshu saw the boy using the dagger, he could naturally tell that the dagger was quite powerful and he felt as if Jie Fu Lian must have really doted on the child since he gifted him with such a special dagger.

When Hua Tianshu heard of the Seige that destroyed the Yan Sect, leaving no survivors, the boy crossed his mind for just a second. However, Hua Tianshu only sighed, thinking that it must have been the boy’s fate to die like that. It was a pity but compared to Jie Fu Lian’s death, it wasn’t that heartbreaking.

However, now that Hua Tianshu saw the boy once again, he couldn’t help but wonder if he should feel guilty for thinking that way or be impressed at how the boy had managed to survive.

In the end, Hua Tianshu sighed as he looked at the dagger with sympathy. He didn’t want the weapon to lose its master and hence, he picked up the child and took him inside the HuiXue sect.

Inside the HuiXue sect, the child’s injuries were properly treated and he was allowed to rest up. When Mo Yang woke up, he immediately insisted on going to see Hua Tianshu and begged the man to take him in as a disciple.

At first, Hua Tianshu found the boy’s words ridiculous and did not plan to take him as a disciple but then, Mo Yang said something that Hua Tianshu simply could not ignore.

"I want to get strong! Only if I get stronger can I avenge Young Master Jie Fu Lian! I need your help!"

Hua Tianshu raised an eyebrow and carefully looked at the boy as he questioned, "The Yan Sect was just burned in front of your eyes and so many people were ruthlessly killed. Do you not wish to avenge them first?"

Mo Yang frowned as he heard this question and without any hesitance, spoke, "I would not lie. Although I do feel devasted, I also feel that our Sect Master deserved to die."

Hua Tianshu was shocked at the serious expression and ruthless words that did not befit the face of a child.

"In the Yan sect, the only one I care for is Young Master Jie Fu Lian. As his father, Sect Master Jie should have saved him but... That man betrayed our young master and forced everyone to turn their backs on him. If the Jin Sect had not killed him, perhaps I would have."

Hua Tianshu’s eyes slightly widened as he heard the boy and he couldn’t help but see a reflection of himself in the boy.

Mo Yang had said the same things that Hua Tianshu had already thought and that in itself was quite impressive.

However, it was too shocking to believe that this boy had survived the siege when nobody else could.

"How did you survive the siege?" Hua Tianshu raised an eyebrow as he seriously questioned, showing the boy that he did not trust him.

"I acted as if I was dead," Mo Yang explained as he revealed, "The situation was quite chaotic and since I had already exhausted most of my spiritual energy, they did not pay attention to me and forgot to make sure whether I was really dead or not. There was a pile of corpses and I was also thrown in there. When the fire started, I covered myself with the other dead bodies and when it was safe for me to come out, I pushed them all aside and made a run for it."

If the boy was telling the truth then it certainly was impressive.

If it had been another ten-year-old claiming to have done such a thing, Hua Tianshu would have definitely not believed it. However, he had already seen for himself how calm Mo Yang could be in dangerous situations where he was faced with death and hence, he did not doubt the boy’s story. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Was it difficult?" Hua Tianshu questioned, not knowing what else to ask a ten-year-old boy.

The boy nodded his head as he spoke, "The dead bodies were heavier than expected."

"..."

"I was almost suffocated to death."

Hua Tianshu had not expected to hear this answer, but for some reason, it felt as if he should’ve already expected it.

"If you become my disciple, you’ll have to train as if your life depended on it. One moment of hesitation can get you kicked out of the sect and if you do not show progress, you’ll have to immediately leave the sect."

The boy enthusiastically bobbed his head up and down as he heard this and asked, "Are you taking me in?"

Hua Tianshu smiled as he looked down at the dagger and spoke, "I’m sure Jie Fu Lian wanted to see how capable you’d become once you are all grown up. That’s why he gave you that dagger. I wish to bring Jie Fu Lian back and when that happens, I’m sure he’ll want to see how much you have grown."

Mo Yang could not understand what went on around Hua Tianshu’s head but he knew that he was being favored so he happily grinned.

"I’ll take you in as a disciple. However, from this moment on, you are no longer called ’Mo Yang’. You’ll be called Duan Luoyang."

"Duan Luoyang?" The boy repeated, slightly tilting his head in confusion.

Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he spoke, "Duan Luoyang, you’ll be my first disciple."

"Duan Luoyang, Elder Hua Tianshu’s first disciple?" The boy repeated, grinning widely as he nodded his head and exclaimed, "I like the sound of that! I’ll be in your care, Shizun. Please teach me how to become strong."

Just like that, Mo Yang became Duan Luoyang, the first disciple of Elder Hua Tianshu and the sudden news caused quite a steer.

It didn’t take long for people to dig up more information on Duan Luoyang and it became public knowledge that Duan Luoyang used to be a lowly attendant of the Yan Sect. Many criticized Hua Tianshu for taking the boy in as a disciple and wasting resources on him since he lacked talent. However, they couldn’t keep looking down on him for long.

Duan Luoyang showed impressive skills and knowledge in cultivation that quickly made Hua Tianshu dot on him.

Hua Tianshu raised the boy like a father and if there was still someone who dared to talk badly about Duan Luoyang and his origins, Hua Tianshu made sure to shut their mouths up for good.

Duan Luoyang thoroughly enjoyed being doted upon and there were times when he was even reminded of Jie Fu Lian when he looked at Hua Tianshu. If Jie Fu Lian were still alive, would he have also doted on him like this?
