The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 166: There is no reason
After a minute or so, the snake finally opened its mouth and asked, "What is your name?"
"My name is Hua Tianshu."
The snake nodded its head, "Hua Tianshu, why are you trying to help him?"
Hua Tianshu smiled as he heard this question and honestly answered, admitting his feelings as he spoke, "I want to help him because I love him. There is no other grand reason behind it. I just love him and I want to see the person that I love, live a safe and happy life."
The snake slightly tilted its head as it heard this and repeated in confusion like an innocent child, "Love? Why do you love him?"
"There is no reason," Hua Tianshu spoke, "He is Jie Fu Lian and that’s why I love him."
"Then does he love you too?"
Hua Tianshu thinly smiled as he heard this and sighed as he spoke, "I don’t know, but it’s unlikely that he does. He considers me a friend, someone who he can depend on and trust."
"So he loves you...?"
"No. He likes me as a friend and nothing more."
The snake looked to be extremely confused as it heard this but did not bother asking any more questions.
"Can you please take me to him?" Hua Tianshu politely asked.
The snake didn’t give a response straight away. Instead, the creature seemed to be carefully thinking about it before it nodded its head and spoke, "Follow me."
The snake slithered away into the darkness and Hua Tianshu somehow managed to catch its tail. He held on tight and used its tail to follow after the creature.
After walking for about ten minutes or so, the snake came to a stop and Hua Tianshu also stopped, noticing the snake’s movements.
"Are we there?" Hua Tianshu quickly asked, frantically looking around trying to see something in this darkness.
The snake did not give him a response.
Hua Tianshu opened his mouth to repeat his question but before any words could leave his mouth, he heard a familiar sound of a boy laughing.
Without bothering to think it through, Hua Tianshu quickly chased after that sound.
"Senior martial sister Yin, I’m sure it will work this time!" A young Jie Fu Lian enthusiastically spoke as he showed Yin Ru a kite that he had personally made.
Hua Tianshu’s feet stopped and he paused as he looked at the scene.
He couldn’t help but feel a bit surprised to see the careless youthful grin on Jie Fu Lian’s face that he hadn’t seen for a long time now.
Yin Ru looked at the kite carefully and sighed as she spoke, "Let’s see if it will fly."
"I’ll show you!~" Jie Fu Lian beamed as he attached a string to the kite and started running in the opposite direction of the wind.
Yin Ru crossed her arms in front of her and looked with an unimpressed expression plastered on her face.
Jie Fu Lian ran for about ten minutes but the kite showed no signs of going up.
In the end, Jie Fu Lian started to run in a circle, and eventually, his leg got caught on the string, making him trip.
As he face-planted on the ground with a loud ’thud’, Yin Ru couldn’t help but laugh.
"I knew this was going to happen," Yin Ru commented, unable to control her laughter.
"Brother Ming, I think you should just give up," Xian Huan also sighed as he spoke.
"You are not even a little kid anymore. Brother Ming, do you not have anything else to do?" Xue Liang added as he asked.
"If you have nothing better to do then you should go and focus on your cultivation or you’ll never improve," Shi XiuYing also sighed as he joined in and spoke.
Jie Fu Lian unhappily pouted as he heard all their words and whined to himself, "I really thought I was going to be successful this time. It’s probably because of this damn wind that won’t cooperate!"
Shi XiuYing chuckled as he heard this and teasingly asked, "If you keep cursing the wind, why would it ever cooperate with you?"
Yin Ru, "Junior brother Ming, I think it would be better if you give up and go back to copy the scriptures that your father told you to copy."
"That’s right," Xian Huan nodded his head as he agreed and spoke, "The sect master would be very angry if he knows what you are doing."
"If he’s angry then let him be angry," Jie Fu Lian replied confidently as he spoke, "If he beats me then I’ll just get beaten. It’s no big deal."
Xue Liang sighed as he heard this, "Brother Ming, why do you never listen to him? If you continue to be like this, you might just have to look for a new father ’cause the sect master would definitely throw you away."
Jie Fu Lian had his back turned to them and laughed as he heard this, "There is no way that old man can do that. I am Jie Fu Lian!~ Who would want to throw me away?"
"Jie Fu Lian, you evil bastard!"
The smile on Jie Fu Lian’s face immediately disappeared as he heard these words and the surrounding that covered him also drastically changed.
"It’s all because of you!"
"I hate you!"
"You ungrateful demon!"
"It’s all because of you!"
Jie Fu Lian slightly flinched as he heard these hateful words and hesitantly turned around to look at the four people who had just been standing behind him.
As soon as he turned his head, he was so shocked and horrified at the sight that he stumbled back and fell on his butt.
Yin Ru, with bloody tears running down her cheeks, looked at Jie Fu Lian with pure hatred as she shouted, "If only it hadn’t been for you! You made me like this!"
Xian Huan, who had a huge hole in his stomach that was constantly bleeding out, looked at Jie Fu Lian with empty eyes as he asked, "Brother Ming, why...? Why did you do this to us...?"
Xue Liang, with his eyes gouged out and his neck slit, reached out his hand to point at Jie Fu Lian as he spoke, "It’s because of you! It’s all because of you!"
Shi XiuYing, with a missing leg, was still covered in a fire that was slowly torturing him to death. He did not point at Jie Fu Lian nor did he blame the boy. The only thing he did was scream. His agonizing screams were so loud that it was enough to drive anyone insane.
They slowly moved closer to Jie Fu Lian and the boy, out of fear, started crawling back, trying to get as far away from them as possible.
"It wasn’t me... I didn’t do it... Please trust me... I’m innocent...!" Jie Fu Lian kept muttering out again and again, helplessly defending himself against these people that looked no better than ghosts.
"Jie Fu Lian, you are a demon!" He heard his father’s voice and when he turned his head, he saw a burnt corpse looking straight back at him, pointing at him accusingly as it spoke, "You are not my son! You are a demon!"
Tears started uncontrollably falling down Jie Fu Lian’s eyes and he quickly covered his ears and closed his eyes as he ducked his head down and kept muttering the same thing again and again.
"It’s a dream. It’s all a dream. It’s all just a bad dream. I have to wake up. This is just a dream."
Suddenly, the scene once again changed. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Senior martial sister Yin, I’m sure it will work this time!" A young Jie Fu Lian enthusiastically spoke as he showed Yin Ru a kite that he had personally made. His grin almost reached his ear and he looked to be extremely proud of his creation.
It was repeating...
Hua Tianshu slightly frowned as he realized what was happening.
This was not just a memory. It was a scenario unconsciously created by Jie Fu Lian’s mind, reflecting his deepest thoughts and feelings.
Jie Fu Lian desperately wanted to go back to that time when he could carelessly laugh and play around without having any worries. He blamed himself for being the reason why such days no longer existed.
His desire to go back and his feelings of guilt led his mind to create such a scenario which started out as a happy dream but ended up as a nightmare.
When he forced himself to wake up from the nightmare, he was dreaming once again and that dream soon turned into a nightmare, creating a loop that he could not get out of.
Hua Tianshu didn’t know how to help Jie Fu Lian but he still tried.
As Jie Fu Lian ran in a circle, eventually, getting his leg caught on the string that made him trip, Hua Tianshu went ahead, and with his arms stretched out, tried to catch him.
