The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 65: The first sign
On the third day, the white cat returned to visit Jie Fu Lian as it stood in front of the little house.
Jie Fu Lian had almost forgotten about the cat but as soon as he saw the fluffy white ball, he immediately picked it up and smiled as he gently stroked its head and asked, "Where have you been?"
The cat naturally gave no response and only licked his fingers as if trying to convey its affection to the man.
"Did you eat anything yet?" He asked again.
The cat opened its mouth out wide and let out a small ’meow~’
"You must be hungry then. Let’s go. I still have some leftover porridge," As if Jie Fu Lian could understand what the cat was trying to say, he immediately smiled as he enthusiastically spoke.
Jie Fu Lian carried the cat inside and the cat seemed to be completely calm in his embrace, almost looking as if it was comfortable enough to sleep.
As soon as the two entered, Hua Tianshu’s eyes trailed down to the cat that Jie Fu Lian was holding.
"What is that?" Hua Tianshu asked, his voice was as strict as ever and it seemed like he wasn’t really fond of cats.
"It’s a cat," Jie Fu Lian replied without missing a beat, "It’s my cat so don’t you dare be rude to it."
The cat smirked as it looked back at Hua Tianshu and rolled its eyes.
"..." Hua Tianshu glared at the cat as he felt an intense feeling of hatred towards the cat.
Jie Fu Lian put the cat down on the floor and took out a bowl of porridge before placing it in front of the cat as he gently spoke, "Eat up. You must be really hungry."
The cat happily meowed once again and stuck out its tongue as it licked the porridge.
Jie Fu Lian thought the cat would be satisfied with the food but the cat actually stopped eating after just a lick and turned around before puking out air with an expression of pure disgust. It seemed that even cats were capable of making such expressions...
"..." Jie Fu Lian didn’t know if he was supposed to laugh or rethink his life decisions.
Perhaps it would have been good if he had learned the art of cooking...
"You said it’s your cat so what have you been feeding that thing all this time?" Hua Tianshu raised his eyebrows as he questioned.
"I usually feed him meat or I go and buy food from the corpse puppets outside. Although they are corpse puppets, the food they make does not contain any corpse powder."
For some reason, Hua Tianshu felt a little happy as he heard this and asked, "Then is it your first time cooking for someone?"
Jie Fu Lian had certainly not expected to hear this question nor had he thought about it before this so he took a minute before he nodded his head and confirmed, "It’s the first time."
Hua Tianshu’s lips curled up slightly but the change was so little that Jie Fu Lian failed to notice it.
However, the cat saw through the man and immediately glared at Hua Tianshu.
For the next few days, Jie Fu Lian continued to make homecooked meals for Hua Tianshu while he bought food from outside for the white cat. He was a little oblivious to the atmosphere inside the little house and hence, he failed to notice the intense glaring war that took place between the little white cat and Hua Tianshu.
Hua Tianshu didn’t like the cat and the cat also hated Hua Tianshu just the same.
A week passed by without any incidents.
Hua Tianshu’s injury was healing very well and he could already stand up and walk around without feeling any pain. It was fortunate that he had such a high recovery speed, but Jie Fu Lian wasn’t satisfied with it.
Hua Tianshu was healing pretty well and it was all because of Jie Fu Lian and his great talent in nursing the man, but Hua Tianshu never even bothered to thank the man.
In fact, not only did he not thank Jie Fu Lian, he didn’t even bother trying to improve their relationship.
A week was enough for them to talk and get closer to each other but the gap between them hadn’t decreased at all! They hardly ever talked to each other and even when they did, Hua Tianshu would only give short responses.
Jie Fu Lian naturally felt a little annoyed.
For as long as he could remember, he hadn’t offended Hua Tianshu in any manner. On the contrary, it was Hua Tianshu who had offended him so why was this man frowning every time he looked at Jie Fu Lian?!
Had Jie Fu Lian stolen his horse or something?! He clearly hadn’t so why was there a need to glare at him?!
The cat naturally thought differently. While Jie Fu Lian was worried about finding the root of Hua Tianshu’s hatred towards him, the cat was determined to obstruct Hua Tianshu from getting closer to Jie Fu Lian.
By the end of the first week, Hua Tianshu had already come to the realization that this white cat wasn’t normal, but he didn’t dare do anything rash since it looked like Jie Fu Lian was quite attached to the cat.
During the second week, there were finally some changes.
To be more exact, it was Jie Fu Lian who had started to change.
The change was slow and even Jie Fu Lian didn’t manage to realize it.
The whole time, Hua Tianshu was carefully monitoring Jie Fu Lian and his every action.
The abnormality in Jie Fu Lian’s actions started from the start of the second week. He would sometimes randomly grab his head and cover his ears. When asked, Jie Fu Lian would simply say that he was having a headache and would lock himself up in his room.
He eventually stopped waking up in the morning and Hua Tianshu became the one who was in charge of the cooking. Hua Tianshu had no problem with it since his injury was almost completely healed.
However, Hua Tianshu certainly felt a little worried when he saw the dark circles and eye bags under Jie Fu Lian’s eyes. The man looked as if he hadn’t slept for days.
As the days passed, Jie Fu Lian’s condition started to worsen.
Jie Fu Lian tried to hide it but it looked like he had started hallucinating as well. He would randomly grab Hua Tianshu and call him ’Yin Ru’ or ’Bai YiJun’. Sometimes, he would even start crying and begging as he kneeled in front of Hua Tianshu and called him ’Father’. When he snapped out of the hallucinations, he would try to laugh it off as a joke.
It didn’t take long for Hua Tianshu to understand the situation.
As Hua Meifang had thought, the demon had started to use the art of manipulation. The people on the other side of the city were also going through the same symptoms as Jie Fu Lian but they weren’t as strong as Jie Fu Lian and some of them had already given into the power of mind manipulation.
In the end, Hua Meifang had to lock them all up in order to stop them from going after Jie Fu Lian.
Hua Tianshu was a bit surprised to hear it but he didn’t feel too shocked since this was to be expected.
By the end of the second week, Hua Meifang, Hua Tianshu, Tail, Jin Long, and Jie Fu Lian were the only ones who weren’t completely under the demon’s control.
Except for Hua Tianshu, everyone else showed symptoms and looked to be suffering but they were all fighting against their own minds and didn’t give up.
Nobody knew when they could go crazy and hence, Hua Meifang, Tail, and Jin Long volunteered to tie themselves up in order to prevent themselves from going after Jie Fu Lian.
Hua Tianshu was the only one who didn’t feel any symptoms and that made him believe that there was a special reason why the demon wasn’t trying to manipulate him.
Hua Tianshu had no idea what the demon was planning but he could already guess that it wasn’t going to be anything good.
The next day, Jie Fu Lian showed the first sign of complete mind manipulation and he attacked Hua Tianshu.
Hua Tianshu didn’t retaliate. He let the man attack him since he wanted to check something.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes turned red and he clawed at Hua Tianshu’s arm that was reaching out to him. In an instant, Hua Tianshu’s sleeve was torn and there was fresh blood oozing out of claw marks on his arm.
Hua Tianshu’s eyes widened in shock as he felt the demonic Qi that Jie Fu Lian emitted.
Next, Jie Fu Lian aimed for the man’s face and Hua Tianshu still refused to retaliate.
When Jie Fu Lian’s hand got close enough, he suddenly stopped and the demonic Qi dispersed.
"Hua Tianshu... Why are you injured?" Jie Fu Lian asked as he looked down at the man’s arm in shock.
