He can only afford one rank 5 Crystal Metac for now, so he ordered one in the meantime. The seller said that it would arrive in a week, but he wasn’t so sure about that after the first one was delayed for up to a month.
He snickered and said, "One week, you say? We’ll see about that."
Then he returned to forging his Life Ability.
This time, the product arrived on time. It even arrived in just 6 days, not 7 days or one month.
This made him clap and say, "Well played. You’ve surprised me both times. At least, the product arrived both times, so I will allow it."
The first surprise was when the rank 4 Crystal Worm arrived at all. Now that it was arriving early, he was beginning to suspect that the seller was prioritizing delivery time based on the amount of money spent on the product.
If his suspicion is correct, the seller should be fined. But he didn’t complain too much since he already got what he paid for.
When the rank 5 Crystal Worm was revealed to him, it was the same glad worm of the same size. But it had a different shape because the worm had twisted itself in a different way. The worm was also blue, not green.
As usual, he didn’t care for the cosmetic differences at all. What he cared about was whether he would get his money’s worth or not. So he quickly refined the Crystal Worm and let Fenrir devour it.
After Fenrir devoured the rank 5 Crystal Worm, he felt a pop in his stomach as something within him burst open. Without being told, he knew that the explosion had occurred within his energy well. So he immediately focused on Fenrir’s condition.
When he looked inwards into Fenrir, he saw that it now had five energy chambers. There was a new one standing at the center of the four previous energy chambers.
The old ones now possessed a capacity of 86, while this new one only possessed a capacity of 10. This made the new energy chamber look stunted and smushed by the four surrounding chambers.
As he focused on this fifth energy chamber, its origin and why it had appeared were made known to him intuitively. What he gleamed made his eyes widen in surprise as he said, "No way. So it was there all along? That’s bunkers."
Apparently, this fifth energy is his original energy chamber. It is the one that Fenrir fused with and devoured when he advanced to rank 2. It is not a new energy chamber that suddenly appeared.
This original chamber didn’t disappear completely after it fused with Fenrir. What had actually happened was that it gave up its power and potential to Fenrir while it shrank to a space of only 1 unit.
This space of 1 unit is inconsequential to a cultivator. Even a capacity of 7 units, which he gained when he devoured the first rank 4 Crystal Worm and gained an extra 6 units of potential, was also deemed inconsequential.
It wasn’t until he devoured another Crystal Worm Metac and gained 6 more potential to raise its space to 13 units that the space became significant and worthy of attention.
This didn’t surprise him because even though the Four Directions Sect will take anyone, they will only take people with a potential of 10 units, as that is the minimum for awakening.
So when the fifth energy chamber finally got more than 10 units of space, it stopped hidden. Now, what it needs is a Core Metac for it return to the same size as the other four energy chambers.
This realization brought a smile to his lips. His lips even became bigger when he thought of the Core Metac that he should put in the fifth energy chamber.
As he smiled, he said, "You know what? Maybe I was wrong about that Danger Sense Metac. Maybe it isn’t so bad."
"If I get the Danger Sense Metac, maybe I can use it to find out why the sect doesn’t think I can advance to rank 4. If someone is going to kill me, I will be able to tell ahead of time. How nice will that be?"
"And Slav should be able to give it up, too. After all, he isn’t using it."
"He is using the Money Pathway, and it would be a shame to let something so valuable continue to rot in his hands. I should help him put it to good use."
Then he narrowed his eyes and smashed his fists together as he said, "I’ll talk to him really gently about it. I’m sure that he will give it up if I ask nicely."
Every bad thing that he said about the Danger Sense Metac doesn’t matter now that he doesn’t need to give up any of his previous pathways for it.
He doesn’t care anymore that he can’t raise its status or that he can’t get Branch Metacs to use it. After all, he has been using the Rewind Metac without any Branch Metac, and it has been just fine.
Besides, he doesn’t need the secret recipe to advance the Danger Sense Metac. It will advance along with Fenrir when he advances, which makes the Danger Sense Metac highly compatible with him.
As he thought of this, he began to think of ways to acquire the Danger Sense Metac from Slav. The first idea that came to his mind was to go back in time to when they were in the initiation program.
He thought that it was a good idea to go back in time to kill Slave because he couldn’t reach Slav right now. However, after thinking about it, he decided not to go back in time just yet because he is still busy with an important matter.
He is still busy forging his Life Ability, and he would like to complete it and advance to rank 3 before going back to get the Danger Sense Metac.
