As Fu Mingze stopped his car at the beach, Yang Meiyi immediately got out of the car and ran to the shore, she pulled off her shoes and walked closer to the water.

She giggled as the cold water touched her feet and breathed in deeply with her arms spread wide. Meiyi turned to look at Fu Mingze who was watching her intensely and walked deeper and deeper into the water before a hand gripped her wrist.

"I hope I didn’t just stop a suicide attempt." A playful voice sounded

Yang Meiyi turned when she heard the voice and saw that it was Long Fei. She looked at his hand on her wrist then at Fu Mingze who hadn’t even moved an inch from his position.

Long Fei noticed her gaze behind him and also turned to look at Fu Mingze, he removed his hand from her wrist and said "Now I see why you suddenly invited me here, you want to make him jealous. Well, I can help with that. But you weren’t trying to kill yourself, right?"

"Of course not, I know how to swim." Yang Meiyi said with a smile

Long Fei smirked and said "Why don’t we leave this water and begin our mission? Hold my hand."

Yang Meiyi stared at the hand Long Fei had stretched out and held it, she allowed him to lead her out of the water and only let go of her after walking back to Fu Mingze.

Long Fei looked at Fu Mingze with a smile and brought his hand forward for a handshake saying "We meet again Mr Fu."

Fu Mingze ignored him and looked at Yang Meiyi, he was worried when she kept going deeper into the waters but he knew she wouldn’t drown. Apart from being able to swim, the girl who spoke about witnessing a man’s downfall yesterday wouldn’t allow herself to drown, that’s why he made no effort to stop her. But why was Long Fei here? Among all the beaches in country M, why was he in this one, for some reason, Fu Mingze just couldn’t stand the man in front of him, and who gave him the right to hold his wife hand’s?

Fu Mingze took a deep breath to control his feeling of punching the stupid smile out of Long Fei’s face and asked coldly "Are you done with inhaling the sea air? I have a meeting by 1pm."

"Goodness, you just came and you are already planning to leave." Long Fei said as he put his hand down when he noticed he was never going to get that handshake.

"I wasn’t talking to you." Fu Mingze irritatingly said.

"I want to stay here for some more time. Maybe for a few hours, if you’re that business then you can go, Long Fei is here to look after me and take me back." Yang Meiyi said boldly.

"That’s not happening, you came here with me and you are going back with me." Fu Mingze said with a frown.

Yang Meiyi smiled and asked, "Does that mean you are staying?"

Fu Mingze ignored the smile on her face grabbed her hand as he dragged her away from Long Fei. He took her to the shore and picked up her shoes "Put them on."

"I don’t want to. Who wears shoes at a beach apart from you."

"What if you get bitten by something? And do you allow just anyone to touch you?" Fu Mingze asked angrily and his anger became more fueled when he saw her smiling "Why are you smiling?’

"You still care for me and you are jealous." Yang Meiyi said with a wide smile.

Fu Mingze scoffed in disbelief and threw away her shoes as he said "You can get bitten if you want and even spend the night with him, I don’t care. I’m leaving."

Yang Meiyi immediately ran to stand in front of him and said "Why do you keep doing this to me? Because of you, I even have to call Long Fei to make you jealous, just to see if you still have feelings for me."

"You think I don’t have feelings for you? For two years I have never stopped thinking about you, wondering why you left, wondering if I did anything wrong. Meiyi, you can’t just come back after two years and expect my arms to be wide open for you. You hurt me and even if you were forced and you had no choice but to leave and break up with me then why didn’t you call? For two years Meiyi, there was no call or text from you, you can’t just come back and say you love me and then expect everything to be alright. That’s not how life works Meiyi."

"If I hadn’t left then Yang Jiu would never have allowed Little Lei to get her heart surgery, she had less than a month to live and if I had gone to you then he would have asked the hospital to give the heart to another person. I would never have been able to live with myself if Little Lei had died because of me, my mom would never have forgiven me."

"Then after Little Lei’s surgery why didn’t you come back to me, Meiyi?"

"He killed Grandpa Sang and took away everything from me, you would have gotten my revenge for me and I never wanted that. I wanted to become stronger and I could never do that with you by my side." Yang Meiyi said as she tasted the salt of her tears.

"But you could do it with Zhang Chun by your side?"

"Zhang Chun only stayed with me because..." Yang Meiyi cried harder at being unable to complete her sentence.

"Because what!?" Fu Mingze screamed.

"I was depressed. Neither my mom, grandpa nor you were with me. I thought I could do it but I just couldn’t. I missed you badly, I couldn’t eat or sleep. I had to take pills before being able to get even an hour of sleep and then one day I took an overdose, Zhang Chun was the one who found me and took me to the hospital."

"You...you had an overdose?" Fu Mingze asked softly. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Yang Meiyi cleaned her eyes and said "After that, Zhang Chun stayed with me to look after me but I promise nothing happened between us and even after I saw a therapist, I still felt empty so I turned to alcohol instead."

Yang Meiyi walked forward to him and wiped the tears that escaped his eyes as she asked "Why are you crying?"

Fu Mingze suddenly placed his forehead on hers as he asked with a soft voice "I should have been there for you, I should have protected you from Yang Jiu, from everything."

"Then I would never have grown up."

"I don’t need you to grow up."

"You can’t always protect me."

Fu Mingze’s heart ached when he heard those words and then he suddenly hugged her, they hugged for a little while before he separated them and said "Stay here for a while, I will be right back."

Yang Meiyi immediately held his wrist and asked "But where are you going?"

"Don’t worry, I’m not going to Yang Jiu. Just wait for me, I will be back very soon." Fu Mingze said. He was about to leave when he stopped and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before he finally left.

Yang Meiyi touched her head and wondered, if he wasn’t going to see Yang Jiu then where was he going?
