You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 83- Take your hand off me
He said that the pocket money he gave her was already in the tens of thousands, deliberately mocking her, mocking how hard her life had become after the divorce, working a job that only paid such a small salary each month.
Yes, her job had a base salary of three thousand, not including insurance and other benefits. If you take away the insurance, she barely made three thousand.
But she thought it was okay. First, in this third-tier city, she never expected a high salary—this was determined by the overall income level.
Secondly, this job offered commission, meaning that if she brought in clients and they placed orders, she would get a percentage of the transaction amount.
Getting a commission would be great, and her salary would definitely get a huge boost, but getting an order wasn’t as easy as it sounded.
Nevertheless, she was still very happy and excited about this job, and she had plenty of energy and courage to excel in it.
Although her current life was a far cry from the wealthy and comfortable days she once had, those days were only financially wealthy. At least now, she was spiritually rich because every penny she spent was earned through her own efforts.
As for what the future would hold, she always believed in one thing: do your best, and heaven will reward you.
Dave drove, glancing at her stubborn and determined expression through the rearview mirror. He couldn’t suppress the sour feelings inside and spoke in a low voice.
"You used to spend money that you earned through your own efforts, right?"
"For example, at night, when you made sure I was comfortable, that was your effort, wasn’t it?"
Laurent’s face instantly turned red. She didn’t expect him to say such shameless words.
Both angry and embarrassed, she angrily raised the book in her hand, almost wanting to slap him with it.
However, when she remembered he was driving, she had no choice but to hold her temper.
If he weren’t driving, she would’ve definitely used the book in her hand to smash him hard.
He was really sick!
Saying such suggestive things to his ex-wife—was his lover making him unsatisfied?
Fuming, she rummaged through her bag and finally pulled out a business card from her wallet. She leaned forward and threw it heavily onto the passenger seat next to him.
"Go see it, no need to thank me. Please call me Lei Feng!"
Then she returned to her seat, turning her head to angrily stare out the window.
Dave tilted his head and glanced at the business card she had thrown at him. It read "Seventh People’s Hospital, xx Psychologist," or something like that.
He then looked at her angry expression in the rearview mirror, a smile inexplicably curling at the corner of his mouth.
He had seen the way she had grabbed the book earlier, ready to smash it at him, and now she had thrown a business card at him, subtly mocking him for being "sick." She really didn’t take any insults lying down.
Where did the gentle Laurent, who never had a temper in front of him, go?
Where did the Laurent who always obeyed him without question go?
Now, every time he met her, she almost drove him crazy, but why did he think her attitude was actually kind of cute?
Later, when Dave told Morrison about the business card Laurent had given him, Morrison laughed for a long time before saying,
"I think Laurent gave you the wrong card. You shouldn’t see a psychiatrist; you should go see a urologist!"
Dave was so angry that he ignored Morrison for an entire week.
After arriving in the county town, Dave drove the mother and daughter directly to the hospital where Vivian was, and after parking the car, Laurent got out holding her daughter. To her surprise, Dave got out too and followed her and her daughter toward the inpatient department.
Laurent glared at him.
"What are you following us for?"
Dave glanced at her.
"Can’t I visit? After all, she’s the best friend of my ex-wife."
His last comment about "the best friend of my ex-wife" made Laurent look at him with complete disdain.
"Why would a man like you visit someone who just had a baby? Besides, Vivian is definitely not going to welcome you."
Vivian was one of the few friends of hers who really disliked Dave. She firmly sided with Leonardo, so there was no way she’d welcome him.
She had seen their previous chat, and he should know Vivian’s stance by now. Laurent didn’t understand why he was so insistent on tagging along.
Of course, Dave knew Vivian’s attitude toward him. He had seen the chat in the group last time. Vivian had even said that if she and Leonardo didn’t get back together, she would cut ties with her.
But despite knowing all of that, he still wanted to visit.
The main reason was that after visiting Vivian, she would need to take her daughter to her mother Tiffany’s place. If he stayed, Laurent wouldn’t have to make a special trip. He could just take Emma himself.
Yeah, that must be it.
So, he confidently explained his reasoning to her.
"After visiting, I’ll just take Emma. You won’t need to drop her off."
With that, he reached over and took the daughter from her arms.
Laurent, "..."
She couldn’t hold it in and rolled her eyes dramatically.
Just as the elevator arrived, Laurent couldn’t be bothered to argue with him anymore. Holding her daughter, she stepped into the elevator. If he wanted to endure Vivian’s cold reception, then so be it.
Also, how could he be so presumptuous?
She would have preferred to take Emma to Tiffany herself. She wanted to thank Tiffany, especially since her daughter would be with Tiffany most of the time in the future. Although they were divorced, and it was expected that Tiffany would help take care of the child, she was still the child’s mother, and she should express her gratitude.
Besides, she and Tiffany had always had a good relationship. It had been so many days since they’d last seen each other, and it would be nice to visit Tiffany while dropping off Emma.
But no, he had to come along and mess up all her plans.
The elevator was crowded, and they didn’t speak again.
Her daughter was securely held in his arms, and Laurent stood beside him, making a conscious effort to keep some distance between them.
However, things didn’t go as planned. There were a lot of people visiting the maternity ward and newborns, and just as the elevator doors were about to close, a bunch of people rushed in, pushing her right into his arms.
Laurent wasn’t prepared, and she ended up falling right into his embrace. Annoyed, she quickly raised her hand to push him away, trying her best to steady herself.
But with one arm holding the baby, he reached out with the other and wrapped it around her waist, pulling her firmly into his arms.
Laurent, furious, raised her hand and pinched his waist, quietly warning him,
"Take your hand off me!"
What was the deal with hugging and cuddling with her ex-husband?
Moreover, she felt like he did it on purpose, because just a moment ago, she was almost able to push him away and steady herself.
But then he suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms, leaving her unable to move.
He groaned softly from the pinch, but his arms around her tightened even more.
Laurent kept pinching and pushing him, and he continued to hold her without reacting.
They silently struggled, pushing and shoving each other, until the elevator finally reached the floor for the maternity ward. As the crowd dispersed, Laurent quickly shoved him off and stormed out of the elevator, walking angrily ahead.
