Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 142: Suspicious behavior
"The enemies are still too far away. They won’t reach the battle in time," Vanessa shook her head. "Maybe it is unrelated to things here, but I suppose we should be cautious."
Vanessa had a point, but Terry didn’t feel good knowing that he could only kill a small number of enemies everyday while many more were spawning daily. It was like trying to keep a massive block of ice dry... it will never end. Terry imagined two solutions for that problem, the first was to look for another dungeon and power up their armors there, or Terry could head in a straight line toward the enemies base and cross one of their portals and stop their massive numbers there.
"What do you think, Terry?" Rebecca asked.
"... I am thinking that I should rest here while you guys stay on the walls and be ready to do something in case the enemies come sooner," Terry replied.
"That is weirdly passive of you, what are you plotting?" Rebecca asked.
"Nothing really, I just want to see the people here understand that they might pay the price for giving the upper hand to the enemies," Terry replied while shrugging. "This is their plan, anyway. Besides, I know that you wouldn’t be able to relax here."
Terry decided that it was better for him to look for another Portal by himself since he assumed that they would be watched if they head as a group to anywhere. While it wasn’t perfect, Terry knew that he could move even faster and without letting anyone notice him if he tried as hard as possible. Rebecca and Vanessa won’t be able to keep up with him.
Rebecca and Vanessa also looked at Terry studying him. They have been working together for a while, so they could tell what he was thinking... It was annoying for them to think that they were holding him back, but his plans seemed like the best option while they studied what the people of the city were planning and making Terry get stronger while he was at it.
"All right... we will do that," Rebecca said and then shrugged. "Shall we dig some traps around the city while Terry stays here alone instead of working with two beauties?"
"Sure?" Vanessa said, visibly unsure of that.
Rebecca wasn’t against the plan, but she still was a bit pissed so she said that. Terry couldn’t understand the point of saying that when their relationship wasn’t like that. Rebecca also made clear several times that she wasn’t interested in him. That was why he stopped telling the joke that she was after his body. As for Vanessa, she was the type of woman who would live for her work alone.
"Why am I thinking about this now?" Terry wondered when those two left the room. "My goal is to wipe out all the monsters and portals and then my revenge will be done, I am working with that in mind only."
Terry looked at the ceiling of his room and thought about what kind of life he was going to have after he achieved his goal. Nothing came to mind since he only lived for that goal. He trained for years for that, after all. Until he reaches it, nothing probably will take any space in his mind.
Regardless, after waiting for half an hour, Terry left the building and began to walk around the city. Once he reached an alley, he jumped toward the roof of a nearby building and then began to cross the city just like that. It would have been easier if he could fly, but that was something that he will be able to do after the mission.
"Oh, yeah... I can do that as well," Terry thought and then made an earth platform and then he jumped on it and flew upward until he disappeared.
Terry didn’t feel like he was being watched, so soon he landed a few kilometers away from the walls. Still, he didn’t find any signs of monsters. He will have to run for a while. In the end, Terry found a portal in an abandoned port city south of Rome. As if things weren’t bad enough, he also found the monsters on the west side building a base. The creatures seemed like tree monsters. They were trents.
"They don’t seem that dangerous, but..." Terry thought as he watched the monsters building walls that were essentially giant trees clustered together.
The appearance of trents was quite weird since they had a weird smile on their faces and they looked beyond creepy. They made other trees emerge from the ground while putting their branches on the ground. For a moment, Terry thought that they would make wild life take the place of the destruction, but soon he changed his mind when he saw the monsters firing some seeds and then knocking down birds passing above the area and then absorbing their bodies.
"Maybe I should help with some good deforestation of alien flora," Terry thought.
Terry arrived in the area insanely fast thanks to the boots and then split the first monster in half with a single slash. The monsters on the sides tried to grab him with their branches, but Terry cut them off with some quick slashes. He waited to see if the first monster would regenerate but that didn’t happen.
At the same time, his weapon soon leveled up after cutting in half some other trees. Although Terry didn’t cause much destruction, the monsters reacted fast and they even tried to surround him by using their magic and they erected several earth walls around to avoid giving him the chance to escape. It seemed natural that monsters like that would be able to use earth and water magic. After not so long, Terry confirmed that he killed all of the monsters.
"They had one hundred of them here... the Portal must have opened recently..." Terry thought. "This sounds suspicious, considering that a new battle will take place close."
