Chapter 154: Idea

The group had a lot of work to do, so they split up their tasks. After finishing their preparations, Rebecca and Vanessa left the city to close a portal by themselves. They had planned to do that in one day, but they did in two because the overlord managed to escape from them in the first battle. Typically beginners move... they probalt tried to play it safe too much.

After they returned, Terry left the city at night and then used the nearest portal to hunt some monsters and look for materials. He only used the dark pegasus boots to fight, so it got a lot of experience... he had a hard time only kicking the enemies at first, but Flying Kick helped a lot. Still, since he had his sword with him, his kicks were strong enough to smash the heads of even giants now.

"I suppose this is fine for now," Terry thought. "Hunting four hours per day and killing around two hundred monsters... I can’t let the enemy realize what I am doing by trying too hard. I have to consider thing from a broader perspective now."

Terry was changing his plant quite often and he didn’t like that since it showed that he didn’t know what to do with one hundred percent certainty. Just leveling up his items would truly be enough? What else he could do with his power. It didn’t matter how much he thought about that, Terry couldn’t think of anything.

"I am also neglecting the armor lately since it is taking a lot of time to level up, but the newer effects will be more useful," Terry thought. "I guess I will have to put plan B into practice."

Terry went to check things with Clark again that day and soon confirmed that there was no progress made with the armor and the feathers. It looked like the gray steel didn’t have much compatibility with organic materials.

"My apologies, guild master, we are truly sorry about this," Clark said.

"It is fine, I knew that things wouldn’t be that easy," Terry said. "You can try to make another kind of item with the feathers and see what happens. As long as it can be used for attacks, it will be fine. In any case, I came with another thing in mind. I have a certain idea of a weapon and I want you to work on that without telling anyone. You don’t have to make progress that fast, it is fine if you do this as a side job."

Terry explained to Clark what he had in mind, the more he thought about it, the more interesting it looked... for someone like Terry, it would be the best weapon and it would truly shine alongside his armor. Moreover, it will be able to keep leveling up pretty much all the time.

"I see... it is quite the interesting idea," Clark said. "It will be able to be enhanced with other materials as well, but I am not sure if the gray steel will work as a basis. It is volatile, but not enough."

"Well, just see what you can do," Terry said. "remember one step at a time. Don’t overwork yourself to death."

Terry said that and then he left the workshop and while he said that, he was truly itching for that project to start and finish as soon as possible, but he couldn’t make Clark work on it all the time without looking suspicious.

"I guess I need to keep checking the other worlds for the materials that we can use," Terry thought.

Although he said that, Terry suddenly recalled something... that realization struck him like a lightning bolt, he needed to do some experiments first, but maybe he finally understood the origins of the traits that people had and why they were mainly different from each other, even though nowadays, everyone lived in ways similar to each other.

In any case, the next few days passed without any issues. The girls managed to close three portals without any issues. Still, while they had an easy time doing that, they cursed their luck since the easiest worlds were of the goblin ones and they were quite horny...

"You can always choose others, you know," Terry said when they were meeting to plan their next steps. "I know that goblins are literally useless to the economy of our current world, but I am sure that there are other portals that need to be closed."

"Never mind that," Vanessa said. "I am having a hard time contacting Louis, so it doesn’t seem like we will find the assassin anytime soon."

"Someone finally made him kick the bucket and pay for his crimes?" Terry asked.

"Don’t say finally," Vanessa said and then sighed. "He is hard to deal with, but he is necessary for our country."

"The other guild masters are still contacting us and they are also doing some investigation, as well, but it doesn’t seem that it is going well," Rebecca addeed. "The enemy might be able to cause more problems at this rate before we make any real difference in our lands."

"That isn’t the only problem," Vanessa said. "I am receiving Intel that large groups of monsters are appearing in south America and they are continuing to head further south."

Vanessa was good at gathering Intel and she also some guild members working only with that, some of them had the abilities to summon creatures made of fire and when they reach their destination, they leave a message in the ground.

In any case, the issue was what Terry heard. In south America... something was happening, it was there where one of the candidates to become overlord of Earth was working, and that couldn’t be a coincidence. Terry was working hard on his boots, but crossing that distance wasn’t something that he could do in a few days yet...

"I will do something about that," Terry declared. "Focus on clearing the portals."
