Charles Reed and Autumn Linton exchanged a glance. They also felt Walker Grant had a point.

Five percent was indeed a little much.

But given the situation, they couldn’t refuse.

Charles Reed thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright, we’ll do as you say."

He looked at his secretary and ordered them to revise the contract.

Chloe Reed watched the entire exchange, her face pale and drawn. Her normally ramrod-straight posture seemed to slump a little.

Chloe Reed closed her eyes. "Mom, I’m not doing the deal anymore. I don’t care if he gets tangled up with Sunny Reed. I can’t stand it for another day. Tell him to meet me at the courthouse."

Judith Pierce was stunned. She asked urgently, "Chloe, don’t get worked up. What exactly happened?"

Chloe Reed clutched her phone tightly. "I just don’t want to put up with it anymore. Mom, I can honestly say that during this entire marriage, I’ve never done anything to wrong him. I’ve been a good daughter to you and Dad, so I’ve been a decent daughter-in-law, right? All I want is a dignified divorce. Is that too much to ask?"

Autumn Linton asked, "What else is there? Please, go on."

Walker Grant looked at Charles Reed, his tone growing colder. "If an adopted daughter can receive three percent of Reed Group’s shares, then as your biological daughter, Chloe should get shares as well. It doesn’t have to be much—five percent will do. That way, the public won’t criticize your decision, and no one on the board will try to stir up trouble."
