Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 333: See You at the Civil Affairs Bureau
At that moment, Chloe Reed was having dinner with her grandmother. She’d had a day to recover and was almost back to her usual self, so the old woman couldn’t tell anything was amiss.
Her phone rang. After a quick glance, she said to her grandmother, "I’m going to take this call."
"Mm, go ahead."
Her grandmother nodded.
Chloe Reed took her phone and walked out of the hospital room. She went straight to the end of the hallway before finally answering, "Hello?"
"One o’clock tomorrow afternoon. See you at the Civil Affairs Bureau."
Walker Grant said only that before immediately hanging up.
Hearing the BEEP BEEP BEEP of the disconnected line, Chloe Reed froze for a moment.
She looked down at her phone, which had already returned to the lock screen, and a small smile touched her lips. ’So, we’re finally getting a divorce?’
She quickly returned to the room. Seeing the unconcealed joy in her granddaughter’s eyes, her grandmother asked, "What’s the good news?"
Chloe Reed said, "I’m getting a divorce tomorrow."
"Oh, you." The old woman looked at her with a sigh of fond exasperation. "Most people are heartbroken when a relationship ends, but you seem overjoyed."
Chloe Reed said, "Of course I’m happy. I’ve been trying to get this divorce for a long time, and it’s finally happening."
’Soon, I’ll have nothing to do with him anymore.’
’I can finally be free of him.’
For a moment, the taut string of tension in her heart went slack.
Chloe Reed was in such a good mood that she ate an extra half-bowl of her dinner.
...
「The next day.」
Walker Grant, who was feeling much better after a night of rest, went straight to the Grant Family Estate.
Judith Pierce was in the middle of packing. She had already booked a flight scheduled to take off in two hours.
"Walker, are you back to see me off?"
Judith Pierce looked at her younger son, her voice tinged with weariness.
But Walker said, "No."
Judith Pierce faltered. "Then you’re...?"
"Where’s my sister-in-law?" Walker Grant asked, his voice low and heavy. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Judith Pierce said, "She’s been home the whole time."
After a pause, she added, "Walker, this was my idea. You should just..."
"She’s her own person. She could have refused." Walker Grant’s expression grew even colder. "She told me she only ever loved my brother. Turns out that was a lie."
’So, everything Chloe Reed told me was true.’
’Sunny Reed wasn’t as innocent as she seemed.’
’She harbored such disgusting intentions toward me.’
A trace of disgust flashed in Walker Grant’s eyes.
He even regretted being so indulgent and gentle with Sunny Reed for the sake of his brother’s only child.
Judith Pierce was momentarily speechless. Knowing her younger son’s temper, she didn’t press the issue.
As Walker Grant entered the living room, he caught sight of Sunny Reed hurrying up the stairs in a panic.
"Sunny Reed."
Walker Grant called out her name.
Sunny Reed froze. She turned to look at him in disbelief. "What did you call me?"
’He always called me Sister-in-law before!’
’But now he calls me by my name?’
’He’s treating me like a complete outsider!’
’As if I’m not part of this family at all!’
Walker Grant’s dark eyes were filled with a profound chill. "If my brother knew about your filthy thoughts, he would have regretted ever marrying you."
Sunny Reed’s slender frame swayed. Her face grew paler as tears streamed down. "Walker, you’ve misunderstood me! It was Chloe who asked me to check on you. I was just worried about you since I know about your condition! I have absolutely no other intentions, you have to believe me!"
"Hah..."
Walker Grant scoffed. "Is lying to me fun?"
Sunny Reed kept shaking her head. "I didn’t..."
But Walker Grant had no patience for her performance. "You’re leaving with my mother," he said, his voice flat. "I’ll have someone escort you both to the airport. Don’t ever let me see you again."
