Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Walker Is Not Here

"Walker, Walker, are you in here?"

Just as the atmosphere grew tense, the door to the storage room was suddenly thrown open.

Nathaniel Monroe’s booming voice followed.

When he saw the two people inside, wrapped in an embrace, he immediately shut the door again.

"Walker’s not in here. He must have stepped out. I’ll give him a call."

His voice faded into the distance...

Chloe Reed shoved him away and opened the storage room door.

Other guests were trickling out of the private rooms, their expressions a mix of grim complexity—some were frightened, others bewildered.

Only after stepping out did Chloe Reed realize a girl had been injured. She was on the ground now as the club’s medical staff bandaged her wound.

"Miss Reed!"

Daniel Hayes spotted her and immediately ran over.

Chloe Reed asked, "Didn’t you say this place was safe?"

Daniel Hayes scratched his head, looking deeply apologetic.

"He can’t run a background check on everyone here. You know you’re a target, yet you won’t just stay put at home. Instead, you run straight to the most crowded places. Do you have a death wish or something?"

Walker Grant’s cool, detached voice came from behind her.

Sarcastic and biting, without a hint of courtesy.

Chloe Reed’s hands clenched into fists. She took a deep breath and deliberately ignored the man speaking behind her.

Daniel Hayes shot Walker Grant a complicated look.

’Actually, I’d been keeping an eye on Chloe Reed the whole time. When those men were about to shove her into the private room, I was already moving to intervene.’

’But then Walker Grant suddenly appeared and dragged Chloe Reed away himself.’

’How was I supposed to follow her then?’

’Could I have stopped him?’

’I’m serving two masters here, caught between a rock and a hard place!’

’Maybe I should just quit this job.’

’Let Miss Reed find someone else.’

’But then again, would anyone else be free of Walker Grant’s influence?’

’He even knows that bastard Lucas Shaw.’

Daniel Hayes thought about it and dismissed the idea.

"Miss Reed, we can’t leave yet. The police will be here soon. We have to wait for them to investigate and clear us of suspicion before we can go," Daniel Hayes said.

Chloe Reed nodded. "Mm, I know."

She looked around and asked, "Have you seen Iris Yates?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Is he your bodyguard or someone else’s? He couldn’t even protect you, and you have the nerve to worry about others?"

The man’s cold, mocking voice came from behind her again.

Chloe Reed: "..."

She continued to ignore him.

She took out her phone and called Iris Yates.

After three rings, the call connected. Iris Yates’s anxious voice came through. "Chloe, you finally answered! How are you?"

Chloe Reed said, "I’m fine. What about you?"

"I’m right outside the club. By the time I turned around, they had already sealed it off. I was scared to death just now. I heard someone scream... Are you hurt?" Iris Yates asked, extremely worried.

"No, I’m not. Don’t be scared. I found a good hiding spot," Chloe Reed said.

"This is all my fault. If only I hadn’t asked you to come..." Iris Yates said, blaming herself.

Chloe Reed patiently reassured her, "It’s okay, I’m really fine. It’s getting late, so you should go home and rest. I’ll text you when I get home. I have a bodyguard with me, so I’ll be safe."

She repeated herself, wanting to put Iris Yates at ease.

"I’m waiting for you right here. I won’t be able to relax until I see you come out," Iris Yates insisted stubbornly.

Chloe Reed pressed her temples and relented. "Okay. In that case, you be careful out there."
