Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 54: Both Families Agreed
Charles Reed’s head snapped toward Walker Grant. "You had a vasectomy?!"
Chloe Reed flashed a sarcastic smile. "You didn’t know? He got sterilized to ’take good care’ of someone else’s child. After what he did to me, how could I not hate him!"
Charles Reed pointed a trembling finger at Walker Grant. "You... you bastard! How could you do this? Take care of Noah if you must, but why get a vasectomy? Don’t you want a child of your own?!"
Madam Grant’s face was also filled with shock. "Walker, how could you do such a thing?"
The revelation was so stunning that the other servants didn’t dare to breathe.
For some reason, they started to look at Chloe Reed with a little more sympathy.
Walker Grant’s narrow, almond-shaped eyes stared darkly at her, the air around him growing colder and more oppressive.
Chloe Reed glanced around the room, wiped a hand across her face, and said, "If you don’t agree to a divorce, the things I do will only get worse. Maybe one day I’ll take Noah Grant away, or throw him from the top of the stairs, or toss him in a river to drown..."
"A divorce! You must get a divorce!"
Madam Grant declared, "Walker Grant, if you don’t divorce this woman, I will disown you as my grandson!"
The shock from the vasectomy was quickly overshadowed by Chloe Reed’s words.
In her current crazed state, she looked as if she would actually go through with it.
Madam Grant wasn’t willing to take that chance.
She didn’t know why Walker Grant had gotten a vasectomy, but Noah Grant was now the Grant family’s only hope. His future couldn’t be ruined by this venomous woman.
The expression in Charles Reed’s eyes was incredibly complex, and his face was still dark. He looked at Chloe Reed, then at Walker Grant. After a moment of thought, he said in a heavy voice, "Then get a divorce. My perfectly good daughter married you, and after all these years, you’ve driven her to this. On top of that, you got a vasectomy? How many more of my daughter’s years do you plan on wasting?"
Both families had agreed.
All eyes fell on Walker Grant.
His hands clenched into fists, his handsome, sharp-featured face contorted with an ugly expression.
He stared intently at Chloe Reed, his voice sounding as if it were being forced from his throat. "Does it have to be this way?"
"Yes."
Chloe Reed looked right at him, her gaze unwavering, her expression perfectly calm.
"Fine."
Walker Grant forced himself to agree, then immediately turned and strode away.
"Where are you going? Get back here!"
Seeing him leave, Madam Grant’s expression soured as she tried to call him back.
But Walker Grant’s figure quickly vanished from sight.
Madam Grant clutched her chest. "This is going to be the death of me! How could a perfectly good birthday party end up like this? Quick, take me to the hospital! I need to see how my precious great-grandson is doing." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
A servant pushed her wheelchair away.
With a complex gaze and a dark expression, Charles Reed looked at Chloe Reed and said coldly, "You’ve really gone too far this time. What did that child ever do to you?"
Chloe Reed glanced at him. "Shouldn’t you go check on your precious Sunny?"
"You!"
Charles Reed threw his hand down in frustration. "You’re an absolute disgrace!"
Everyone left, and the living room fell silent.
Chloe Reed walked out, one step at a time. Everything that had happened tonight made her head buzz.
But she had achieved her goal.
Walker Grant had finally agreed to the divorce.
’But why does my heart ache so much?’
It hurt so much she could barely stand. ’I thought I’d moved past all of it, but saying it all out loud... it felt like a thousand knives stabbing me in the heart.’
