Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Like an Abandoned Dog

He and Sunny Reed were involved.

He’d agreed to Judith Pierce’s demands, only to turn around and come cause a scene at her apartment.

’What on earth did he take her for?’

Chloe Reed began to question everything, to question their eight-year relationship.

She felt a profound sense of powerlessness.

She suddenly realized she wasn’t as nonchalant as she appeared on the surface.

Whenever it came to Walker Grant and Sunny Reed, she lost all control of her emotions.

One was the man she had loved for eight years.

The other was the woman she had hated for more than a decade.

And yet, they had gotten tangled up together.

How could they possibly get involved with each other?

"..."

Walker Grant stood downstairs waiting for Rocco to pick him up, his clothes a rumpled mess.

Rocco spotted him from a long way off, his eyes widening in disbelief.

’Heavens!’

’Did Mr. Grant get beaten up?’

’Was he thrown out?’

’Mr. Grant, standing by the road late at night, looked like an abandoned puppy. How pitiful!’

As the car pulled up, Rocco schooled his features, reigning in all his emotions.

"Mr. Grant, where to?"

Walker Grant sat in the back seat and tossed his jacket aside. A heavy tightness constricted his chest.

"Find a place where I can go die."

The corner of Rocco’s mouth twitched. "Please, Mr. Grant, don’t joke around. Shall I take you back to Jardinelle?"

’That was their marital home.’

’But his wife wasn’t there.’

’What was the point of going back?’

Walker Grant closed his eyes, his tone growing even colder. "Just find anywhere."

Rocco: "..." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

’This is impossible.’

’Has he started spiraling just because his wife left him?’

In the end, Rocco drove back to Jardinelle anyway.

"We’re here, Mr. Grant."

Walker Grant opened his eyes. The sight of the familiar villa courtyard sent a throb of pain through his head.

He pinched the bridge of his nose and suddenly asked, "Do you have a girlfriend?"

Rocco shook his head. "Not yet."

Walker Grant sighed. "Then never mind. There’s no point talking to you about it."

Rocco blinked. "Mr. Grant, you could talk to Young Master Monroe. He’s always full of ideas."

"Hah, him?" Walker Grant scoffed. "He’s been dumped so many times, what good would he be? Am I supposed to have him come over and give me a masterclass on getting dumped?"

Rocco: "..."

Walker Grant got out of the car and walked toward the villa.

The darkness gradually swallowed him, his retreating figure looking utterly desolate.

...

「The next day.」

Chloe Reed pulled herself together, drank a cup of tea to soothe her throat, and headed to the voice acting company.

’Since thinking about that wretched pair made her lose control, she would just have to stop and pour all her energy into her career instead.’

When she arrived at the voice acting company, the project lead and the voice director were already in the meeting room.

Chloe Reed went through the audition process all over again, reading for the role once more. She had been practicing nonstop, and she had not only gotten her groove back, but her emotional delivery was even richer and showed marked improvement.

The voice director was thoroughly impressed. He turned to the person beside him and said, "I’ve wanted to cast her from the start. What the hell was that last actress’s take? So pretentious and saccharine, it made me sick."

The assistant replied, "If it weren’t for orders from the higher-ups, we would’ve started ages ago. But what could we do? The other actress has powerful connections."

The voice director sneered. "Powerful connections, and she still got replaced? Is the contract ready?"

The assistant nodded. "It’s all ready."

When Chloe Reed came out, the voice director approached her, his face wreathed in smiles. "That was even better than last time! It’s clear you’ve been practicing. I am delighted to invite you to join our team. I hope we’ll have a great time working together."

Chloe Reed shook his hand and gave a small smile. "I look forward to it."

However, just as she was about to sign the contract, a group of people walked over.

Leading the group was none other than Walker Grant, and right beside him was Sunny Reed.
