"What do you mean?!" Chloe Reed instinctively took a step forward. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Walker Grant said, "The two of you will work together, or we won’t sign this contract."

"You bastard!"

Rage flared in Chloe’s eyes.

Sunny Reed sighed, playing the victim. "Forget it. If you don’t want to, then that’s fine. I can’t just show up and take your job. You’ll only end up blaming me again."

She turned to Walker Grant and said, "Walker, let’s just go."

But Walker Grant said, "What does this have to do with you?"

His sharp eyes remained fixed on Chloe. He said nothing, as if waiting to see how long her stubbornness would last.

Chloe really wanted to slap him again.

’I wish he would just drop dead!’

’Calling him a bastard is an insult to the word itself!’

The onlookers exchanged confused glances.

’Wait, what’s going on here?’

’Do they know each other?’

’Should we be saying something?’

The voice director frowned and said, "Mr. Grant, I’ve already listened to this young lady’s audio tracks. They really are much weaker. I say we just forget it."

But Walker Grant replied coolly, "And what if I don’t want to?"

The voice director: "..."

’You’re the one with the money. You call the shots!’

He turned to Chloe, a helpless look on his face. "Why don’t you just try one scene together? It won’t take long. After we’re done, we can sign the contract, and you can name any other conditions you want."

The manager chimed in, "That’s right. It’s just for one scene. It won’t waste much of your time."

All eyes fell on Chloe.

If she refused, she would be the one who was ungrateful and unreasonable.

Once again, she was left isolated and helpless.

But Chloe just stared intently at Walker Grant, her heart shattering into pieces, then gently mending itself.

In the parts that healed, his shadow was gone.

She suddenly felt that this was for the best.

Every time he hurt her, her love for him would diminish a little more.

Once that love was completely gone, she could finally let go!

"Fine."

She curved her lips into a smile and glanced at Sunny Reed, a flicker of mockery in her eyes.

She turned and walked toward the recording booth.

Sunny Reed’s fingers curled slightly. She hadn’t expected Chloe to agree.

’It’s a bit unexpected, but it’s no big deal.’

The relaxed expression on Walker Grant’s face slowly vanished. He had seen it clearly—when she first looked at him, she was filled with anger and disbelief.

But now, she was completely calm.

There was no trace of him in her eyes anymore.

His expression darkened, and the air around him grew inexplicably cold.

The person standing next to him shivered for no apparent reason and took a few steps away.

Chloe didn’t choose the role she was originally supposed to voice; instead, she picked another one—the villain.

The project was a palace intrigue drama, an ensemble piece with a female cast where every character was distinct.

When the voice-over began, Chloe immediately seized the initiative. Her line delivery was flawless, her emotional outbursts powerful. She embodied the character through her voice alone, instantly establishing a commanding presence.

Sunny Reed was voicing the protagonist. The moment she spoke, the disparity in their skill was obvious.

Her presence was weak, her emotions lacked depth, and in the face of Chloe’s ferocious performance, she came across as timid and shrinking.

The voice director stated bluntly, "It’s a good thing she was replaced. If we’d used her, this show would have been ruined."

"Give her the voice-over for that character."

To everyone’s surprise, Walker Grant said this to the voice director while pointing at Chloe Reed.

’He’s telling me to give the villain role to Sunny Reed.’

The voice director was stunned. "But... the voice actor for this role has already been cast."

But Walker Grant just looked at the manager on the side and said, "I’ll get you a new set of recording equipment."

The manager’s face lit up. "Yes, yes, of course! Thank you, Mr. Grant! We’ll make the change right away."
