Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 80: Personally Picking Up Sunny Reed
Chloe Reed glanced around. Seeing no sign of Sunny Reed in the office, she let out a long breath.
She got angry just seeing Sunny Reed, and the sound of her voice made her want to slap her across the face.
But right now, she had to control her temper.
Sunny Reed had deliberately provoked her, just wanting to see her get physical. Then, Sunny could play the part of the pitiful, innocent victim once again.
It was a trick she’d been using since they were children.
Chloe Reed made a decision. ’I absolutely cannot let her get under my skin again.’
’I have to keep this job.’
However...
She took out her phone and sent a message to Judith Pierce.
Chloe Reed: [Mom, Walker Grant got Sunny Reed a job at the voice acting company. He’s treating her better and better.]
Judith Pierce: [I’ll handle it.]
The corners of Chloe Reed’s lips curled into a smirk. Judith Pierce detested Sunny Reed, so she would never allow her to get too close to Walker Grant.
What Walker Grant had personally arranged, Judith Pierce would be sure to personally tear down.
It was only a matter of time before Sunny Reed was kicked out.
Knowing that someone was dealing with Sunny Reed for her, Chloe’s mood brightened. She put on her headphones and went back to watching the original footage.
...
Judith Pierce’s expression was grim. She immediately called the owner of the voice acting company.
Ken Jacobs answered the phone, his tone deferential. "Mrs. Grant, what can I do for you?"
Judith Pierce got straight to the point. "Did your company hire someone named Sunny Reed?"
As the owner, Ken Jacobs naturally wouldn’t be involved in such minor matters. He said, "I’m not sure. I’ll have someone look into it right away."
Judith Pierce said, "Find an excuse and fire her."
Ken Jacobs was puzzled. "Mrs. Grant, what about this person? Is there a problem with her?" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
But Judith Pierce said, "Just do as I say. Grant Corporation holds a significant stake in your company. A single request like this isn’t asking too much, is it?"
Ken Jacobs quickly forced a smile. "Not at all, not at all. I’ll get right on it."
After hanging up, he had someone look into it. To his surprise, he discovered that Walker Grant himself had arranged for her to be hired!
’What the heck is going on?’
’Are Mrs. Grant and her son fighting?’
’One wants her hired, the other wants her fired.’
’Who am I supposed to listen to?’
Ken Jacobs sighed. After mulling it over for a moment, he ultimately called Walker Grant’s special assistant and explained the entire situation.
When Walker Grant heard the news, his expression remained unchanged. He said coolly, "Tell Ken Jacobs to just give her some vague excuse. Sunny Reed is to stay at the company."
"Yes, sir," the assistant replied.
With a direct order from the big boss, Ken Jacobs was no longer on edge. He followed Walker Grant’s instructions and gave Judith Pierce a perfunctory response.
Judith Pierce didn’t suspect a thing. She couldn’t imagine the owner of a company like that would dare to lie to her.
...
Night fell. Chloe Reed packed her things and left the office.
Unexpectedly, it had started to rain. As she headed for the parking garage, two familiar voices drifted out from the dim interior.
It was Sunny Reed and Walker Grant.
Sunny Reed was saying, "Walker, why did you come all this way to pick me up? If my sister sees this, she’ll misunderstand us again."
Walker Grant’s tone was flat. "Just get in the car."
The sound of a car door shutting followed.
Chloe Reed walked closer, her gaze locking directly with the man in the driver’s seat.
Her face was filled with scorn as she flipped him the middle finger.
Walker Grant’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. He suddenly threw open his door and started walking toward her.
Seeing him approach, Chloe yanked open her own car door, jumped in, and quickly locked it. She started the engine and sped away.
She sped off so fast she nearly hit him.
