Chapter 82: Chapter 82: You Keep Courting Death, So There’s Nothing I Can Do

Judith Pierce was a little angry, her tone turning cold. "I’ll call right now and ask what’s going on."

Then she hung up.

Chloe Reed held her phone, thinking for a moment before letting out a derisive laugh.

’What else could it be?’

’Walker Grant must have protected her!’

TSK TSK!

’How touching. He’s so devoted to his sister-in-law that he’d even ignore his own mother.’

However, the way she toyed with the phone in her hand grew slower and slower, and the playful look on her face gradually vanished.

She tossed her phone aside, picked up her script, and went back to studying it.

...

Judith Pierce dialed her son’s number and said curtly, "Where are you? I need you to come home right now."

Walker Grant replied in a flat voice, "At the hospital, with your grandson."

Judith Pierce’s brow twitched violently. "Noah has a nanny and a private nurse. You don’t need to be there all the time. Come back now. I have something to discuss with you."

"Got it."

Walker Grant’s tone was tinged with nonchalance. After hanging up, he stuffed the building block he was holding into Noah’s hand and said, "You play by yourself for a bit. I have to go."

Noah Grant grabbed his hand and looked at him with pleading eyes. "Uncle, can you please not go?"

"I can’t, I have something to do." Walker Grant knew the child was very dependent on him; he had practically raised the boy himself.

’So the dependency was only natural.’

"Noah is a big boy now. You can play by yourself, right?" Walker Grant said, ruffling his hair.

Noah Grant nodded slowly. "Yes."

Walker Grant stood up and left without another word.

When Sunny Reed returned and saw he was gone, she asked Noah, "Where’s your uncle?"

Noah Grant looked at her, his eyes filled with a mix of fear and dependence. "Uncle answered the phone, and then he left."

Sunny Reed nodded with a placid expression, then walked over and swept all the building blocks from the hospital bed onto the floor.

With a loud CLATTER, the little boy’s body trembled in fear.

...

「Grant Family Estate」

Walker Grant walked in as dusk fell, a chill mist clinging to him. He took off his jacket, casually tossing it aside, and entered the living room.

"So, what’s the matter?"

Judith Pierce sat on the sofa, looking at him with a serious expression. "Why did you let Sunny Reed stay at that company? Don’t you know that Chloe and Sunny don’t get along?"

Walker Grant sank into an armchair, crossing his long legs in a leisurely posture. "That’s precisely why I want them together. Their misunderstanding runs too deep. They need a chance to resolve it."

"You...!" Judith Pierce never imagined he would say such a thing. Her face turned ugly with anger. "Did you ask Chloe what she wants? Is she willing to accept this arrangement?"

But Walker Grant said, "I’m doing this for her own good."

"It’s only for her good if she thinks it’s good!" Judith Pierce scoffed. "Don’t let Sunny Reed go to work at that company tomorrow. Do you want Chloe to bring up divorce with you again?"

A wave of inexplicable irritation rose in Walker Grant’s heart.

He tugged at his collar, his expression turning cold as he looked at her. "Mom, what exactly did you say to her?"

Judith Pierce frowned. "What?"

"Since she agreed not to divorce, doesn’t that mean we’ve reconciled? But she’s still so cold to me," Walker Grant said with a frown.

Judith Pierce looked at him grimly. "I only persuaded her not to divorce you. But you keep digging your own grave. What am I supposed to do about that?"

Walker Grant was speechless.

He frowned and said, "So, you all think there’s something improper going on between me and my sister-in-law?"
