Judith Pierce said nothing, her gaze complex as she looked at him.

"That’s my sister-in-law!"

Walker Grant shot upright, his handsome face twisting into an ugly expression. "She misunderstands me, and you all do, too?"

Judith Pierce sighed. "Walker, you may not have any ulterior motives, but you can’t stop some people from having them. You two are always meeting. What if..."

"Impossible."

Walker Grant cut her off, his face cold. "My sister-in-law loves my brother deeply. I saw how in love they were with my own eyes. So, it’s absolutely impossible."

At his words, Judith Pierce’s expression turned cold as well. "So, after all is said and done, you’re just refusing to get rid of Sunny Reed?"

Walker Grant’s sharp eyebrows furrowed. He lowered his gaze slightly, and after a long moment, he said, "Let me think about it."

Judith Pierce nodded. "Fine. You think it over. By the time you’ve made up your mind, your girl will be long gone."

With that, she stood and headed upstairs.

Walker Grant propped himself up with one hand on the arm of the sofa and pinched the bridge of his nose, his expression thick with frustration.

...

Thanks to the timely care she’d received last night, Chloe Reed woke up the next day without a cold. Her voice was still clear and bright. She drank a glass of honey water before eating breakfast and heading to the office.

Her car had broken down and needed repairs, so for the time being, she was taking ride-shares.

When she got to the office and saw Sunny Reed at her desk, Chloe Reed’s brows knitted together.

’Did Judith Pierce’s negotiation with Walker Grant fail?’

’So, I’ll have to work under the same roof as Sunny Reed from now on?’

’What a pain.’

Fortunately, the day was busy. Yesterday, she had familiarized herself with the script and the source material, and today Kyle Coleman organized a meeting to kick off the voice-over work.

She spent the entire day in the recording booth. When she finally came out, Kyle Coleman was still discussing areas that needed adjustment and improvement.

Chloe Reed was listening so intently that she didn’t watch where she was going.

As they were walking, Kyle Coleman suddenly went quiet. She looked up and saw Walker Grant standing ahead of them. He was tall and slender, with a handsome, distinguished face, and he was in the middle of a conversation with Sunny Reed.

When Sunny Reed saw her looking, she smiled and said, "Oh, my sister’s out. I’ll get going, then."

But Walker Grant said, "I’ll give you a ride."

Sunny Reed shook her head. "No, it’s okay. I have to go buy a toy for Noah, so it’s out of your way."

Walker Grant didn’t insist.

He looked up at Chloe Reed, his almond-shaped eyes deep and dark, and said, "I came to pick you up."

Chloe Reed felt a wave of irritation.

She turned to Kyle Coleman and asked, "Director, were there any other issues?"

Of course Kyle Coleman could tell something was up.

He wanted no part of it, so he just shook his head. "Nope, we’re all done. You can head out."

And with that, he turned and walked away.

Clutching the script to her chest, Chloe Reed walked toward her desk.

Walker Grant followed her, standing to one side and watching as she tidied up.

"What do you want to eat tonight?"

"Dragon meat."

"..."

Walker Grant gave her a helpless look. "Chloe, can we be realistic?"

Chloe Reed finished clearing her desk, grabbed her bag, and looked at him. "You want realistic? Realistic is you not showing up in front of me. The very sight of you annoys me."

At her words, Walker Grant’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He suddenly stepped forward and gripped the nape of her neck.

Chloe Reed was startled. "What do you think you’re doing?!"

There were still other people in the office, and seeing the scene unfold, they all wore expressions like they were settling in to watch a good show.

Walker Grant stared at her. "What did you just say? Say it again."

His expression darkened, and he looked like he was about to lose it.

Chloe Reed reined in her emotions, pushed his hand away, and said, "Just what is it you want?"
