Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 54: Driving the 318
Since they were in the DiDi, the group avoided many private topics, sticking to small talk and discussing where they should go have fun.
Just then, the roar of an engine came from outside the car window, followed by the sound of a horn.
The group turned to see a black Lamborghini pulling up alongside them in the right lane. The Lamborghini’s window rolled down, and Wu Yun waved to them before instantly accelerating and disappearing ahead.
The driver said with envy, "Sports cars are just better! Even when I floor it, this Corolla is still so slow!" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Wu Yun quickly returned to Shida Modern Garden.
It was still early, but he didn’t stop by the company. Since it was Sunday, only the R&D department was working overtime.
After parking his car, Wu Yun asked Qi Fei and learned they were still over ten minutes away. So, he ducked into the supermarket outside the complex to buy some daily necessities.
By the time Wu Yun came out, the DiDi carrying Qi Fei and the others had just dropped them off at the main gate.
To Wu Yun’s slight embarrassment, since he had only been to the apartment once when he bought it, he had a bit of trouble finding the unit number, leading to some awkward fumbling.
"Uh, it’s only my second time here, so I’m not familiar with the place either!" Wu Yun said, scratching his head sheepishly with a smile.
He opened the door and stepped aside to let the group in.
Wu Yun took out the five pairs of sandals he had just bought at the supermarket and handed a pair to each of them.
Qi Fei sized up the warm color scheme and decor, teasing him with a laugh, "Xiaoyunzi, I never would’ve guessed you liked this kind of style."
Wu Yun felt helpless. ’What could I do? The person who sold me the place was a woman.’
After changing into their slippers, the group took a look around the living room, then split into pairs to pick out their bedrooms.
That evening, while they were having hot pot, Qi Fei, knowing Wu Yun’s company was busy, decided to ask his opinion. "Xiaoyunzi, want to come with us on a trip for a few days? A road trip on Route 318?"
Wu Yun frowned. "If I don’t go, who’s going to drive?"
Qi Fei knew Wu Yun was worried, since a lot of the route was through mountainous terrain. "The four of us all have our licenses now," she said. "We just don’t get to drive much. Only Shengnan drove a lot back in school."
Wu Yun glanced at the girls’ driving Skills. Only Zeng Shengnan’s was at "Skilled," while the others were all at "Novice."
"You guys are really brave. Fine! The company isn’t too busy right now, and the general manager will be back at work tomorrow. The product hasn’t launched yet, so things are slow."
Wu Yun continued, "I have to go to the company tomorrow for a beginning-of-the-month meeting. I’m going to call a headhunter first. I gave them a task a couple of days ago, and I want to see how it’s going. You all go ahead and chat!"
With that, Wu Yun didn’t bother being discreet and directly called the headhunter. "Manager Liu, have you found any game companies that are looking to sell, like I asked?"
"President Wu, please give us a few more days. The ones we’ve found so far are mostly in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen. We’ve found some in Rongcheng, but they don’t meet your requirements!"
"Fine, I’ll wait a few more days. Try to find one in Rongcheng. Anything under twenty million is acceptable," Wu Yun reiterated.
"No problem, President Wu! Please wait for our good news."
...
The three girls, who only had a partial understanding of Wu Yun’s background, were still shocked to hear his words. Casually throwing around twenty million was something even the richest second-generation heirs at their university couldn’t do.
Moreover, they had heard from Qi Fei that Wu Yun had already started two companies. Qi Fei had even shown them the news about Nirvana Technology’s procurement, and the three-billion-yuan figure had left them completely stunned.
For students of the performing arts, unless they came from money and treated it as a hobby, the rest were all hoping to become famous and make more money, or dreamed of marrying into a wealthy family.
Li Yao’s eyes flickered with a hint of regret. ’Compared to Wu Yun, her boyfriend—who drove a Porsche 911 around campus every day living off his parents’ money—suddenly seemed a lot less impressive.’
Her boyfriend would be thrilled for ages about buying a watch worth tens of thousands of yuan, but then look at Wu Yun, talking about acquiring another company so nonchalantly. There was simply no comparison.
Wu Yun hung up the phone and said, "I’ll go with you all. But I’ve always had this dream of traveling in an RV with the person I like. I don’t know, would you guys be interested in taking an RV?"
As soon as Wu Yun said this, the other three girls all turned to look at Qi Fei.
Qi Fei, while happily plucking food from the hot pot, said, "Yeah! I think an RV would be even more fun. We could go whenever we want and stop wherever we want." What she really cared about was the first part of Wu Yun’s sentence: *traveling with the person I like*.
And so, the group unanimously passed the resolution to take an RV for their Route 318 road trip.
"Great! After my meeting tomorrow, we’ll go rent an RV together and stock up on supplies. We’re going to the highlands, after all, so we have to bring specific things like altitude sickness medication and oxygen tanks."
......
Early the next morning, Wu Yun was dragged out of bed by the excited girls.
"What’s the rush? My meeting isn’t until nine-thirty, and it’s only seven-thirty now! What kind of boss rushes to punch a time clock?" Wu Yun yawned. After the hot pot last night, Song Qin and the others had insisted on going to karaoke. As a result, Wu Yun had revealed another shocking skill—Professional (Mastery) level singing—and had been forced to sing for them all night.
By the time Wu Yun had washed up and gotten ready, Qi Fei and the others were already wearing makeup and sitting on the sofa, waiting for him.
They had agreed last night that they would take a company vehicle, which Wu Yun’s company had just purchased, to the rental agency.
At 8:30 in the morning, it was peak rush hour, and the roads and sidewalks were packed with cars and pedestrians.
Wu Yun, leading Qi Fei and the other three women—some pulling suitcases, others wearing backpacks—was a very conspicuous sight among the pedestrians.
A distance that seemed short when driving felt surprisingly long on foot. The group walked for nearly a kilometer along the wall of the Shida Chenglong Campus.
Fortunately, Wu Yun kept them entertained along the way by telling them about Shida University.
Wu Yun’s company started work at nine, so they ran into several of the company’s programmers and administrative staff in the office park.
It was the morning rush, so Wu Yun and the others had to wait a while at the elevators before they could ride one up to the company.
"President Wu!"
"President Wu!"
....
As they entered the company, they were met with a constant stream of greetings. Aside from Qi Fei, the other three women had only ever seen office life on TV, and they found the experience fascinating.
The programmers’ eyes lit up as they stared at the four beautiful women Wu Yun had brought in. Their social circles were small, and it was rare for them to interact with women, let alone beauties like these.
Wu Yun led the women into his office. Ignoring them as they looked around, he turned and headed for Li Qiuliang’s office.
After Song Qin saw Wu Yun leave, she said in Mandarin tinged with a Northeastern accent, "Feifei, your Wu Yun is seriously rich. This office alone is bigger than a lot of small companies."
But Qi Fei replied, "What do you mean, ’my Wu Yun’? He’s not mine yet!"
"Then if you don’t want him, you should let me have him!" Song Qin joked.
"In your dreams!"
