Chapter 208: Chapter 208 - Contract(Part 3)

"Wait, so...Larrk formed a Contract with this Demon, Azazel?" Inquired Argent incredulously.

"Mhm, and I’m so glad it worked out that way...if he hadn’t done that, Uncle Azazel would have died," I replied with a grateful smile, as I carried Larrk’s unconscious body in my arms.

I can feel Negative Energy swirling throughout his body, he’s definitely gonna be a lot more powerful when he wakes up...I can’t wait to spar against him and see just how much stronger he’s gotten!

"I could sense the fight using my Area Detect, and the presence that had been fighting Larrk did stop and then vanish shortly after you showed up...but even having felt it, it’s hard to believe," He responded in bemusement.

"Uh, I’m seeing a lot of muscle spasms all over his body, isn’t that bad?" Frowned Prysm warily, as she poked his shoulder.

"I dunno...but I think it’s okay. Forming a Contract results in a significant increase in power, right? His body is probably changing in order to accommodate that increase," I guessed with a shrug.

"You don’t sound too sure about that..."

"This is a lot to take in...but I suppose it also means that we no longer need to worry about Monsters invading the Haven, so that’s good," Sighed Oberr in relief.

"A Demon, huh? Man, wish I got a chance to fight him," Grinned Howll wistfully.

"No offense, but you probably wouldn’t have lasted ten seconds against him, and that’s a generous estimate," I replied with a wry smile.

"Wha-...rude!" He huffed indignantly.

"So, uh...where are Sinia and Amber? They were with him, weren’t they?" Chimed in Tania.

"Oh, right, after I sensed Larrk and the two of them encountering the Demon, the two of them retreated, I think he was trying to buy them time to escape. They’re out of my sensory range now, so I’d assume they went back to the Haven," Deduced Argent, as Prysm continued poking Larrk curiously, his eyebrows furrowing slightly in response.

"Then it’s possible that they’re gathering reinforcements to come back here...we should get back immediately, the Haven might be in a panic right now," Frowned Arofri warily.

"Leave it to me, I’ll get us back in an instant," Declared Prysm, stepping forward. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

We all gathered around her and linked up, before she activated her Skill, teleporting us back to the Haven, by the entrance of the tunnel we took to get here.

"Wha-...!? Oh, it’s just you guys...," Sighed Sinia in relief, as we startled her with our sudden appearance.

"Yeah, I thought so," Muttered Arofri, as a bemused army of Demi-Humans stared at us.

"Wait, what happened? He’s still alive? What about the Demon?" Inquired the other cat person who had been with Larrk...uh, what was her name, again?

"We’ll explain...but for the sake of easing everyone’s minds here, let me say that the operation was a success. The Monster issue has been dealt with, and moreover, we suffered no casualties," Oberr announced to the anxious Demi-Humans, looks of relief and gratitude washing over their faces.

"Hold on, did he actually defeat that Demon? No way, I thought he was doomed," Remarked Sinia in awe.

"Like I said, we’ll explain. But later. Gather the other Elders, we should discuss this development with all of them," Replied Oberr, before turning to me, Argent and Prysm, "You should get Larrk to his hut, he could probably use some rest after fighting a Demon."

Yeah, I’m pretty impressed he survived, let alone put up a genuine fight, even if Uncle Azazel wasn’t at his best since his core was damaged. When I got there, it looked like Uncle Azazel had taken a fair bit of damage while fighting Larrk.

"How are you feeling about this whole thing? I bet it isn’t easy," Remarked Prysm sympathetically, as the three of us began heading back to the huts.

"Huh? What are you talking about? This is a good thing...first off, I got to see a member of my family again. And then he was about to die, that wasn’t great, but thanks to Larrk, he didn’t die! And what’s more, Larrk’s gonna be a lot more powerful now...which means that I’ve got a great sparring partner to trade blows with," I pointed out with a grin.

"How did he actually convince Azazel to form the Contract with him in the first place? From what I know, most intelligent Monsters would literally rather die than form a Contract with a human, that’s why it’s so rare. Even that True Nobility woman only had a Contract because of her ability to subjugate Monsters," Remarked Argent curiously.

"Ohh, you should’ve been there, it was crazy!" I recalled, still unable to believe what I had witnessed.

"Woah, if you’re the one saying it’s crazy, then it must have been quite something...what happened, exactly?" Prysm asked me with a look of intrigue.

"You aren’t going to believe this...but Larrk spoke to him from the heart, he was all sappy and nice, it was super weird! Like, I already figured he felt that way with most of the stuff he said, but I never imagined he’d actually put it into words! It was so weird...he even called me his sister in law, that made me happy!" I smiled cheerfully.

"...I don’t believe you," The two of them responded in unison, skeptical looks of disbelief on their faces.

Yeah, I thought they might not...

Point-of-View: Larrk Stryker

"Woo, we’re finally done! Man, that was fun!"

"I have to admit, I enjoyed that, though I can’t understand why. Your organizational skills are impressive," Responded Azazel, as the flow of the fused energy stabilized nicely.

"I just thought of it like creating a character, customizing its specs as efficiently as possible," I explained with a grin.

"Uh, I don’t quite understand the analogy, but I think I get the gist of what you mean, maybe?" He replied uncertainly.

"Alright, so my body’s gonna be a lot stronger when I wake up, I’ll be able to use weaker versions of your abilities in my normal form, and I’m gonna need to work on mastering using your full power in order to make maximum use of our Contract. Hey, am I going to look different when I wake up?" I asked him.

"Hm, there may be some minor changes, but nothing too significant. You should still appear human at first glance."

"I see...I wouldn’t have minded having some Demonic features, that would’ve been cool, but I’d probably stand out too much in a negative way," I sighed wistfully.

"Now that we’ve finished the process, I can see a clearer picture of what the result will be. The abilities you gained by eating Monsters, those also changed your body physically...since you already possessed Monstrous elements, the assimilation of our Contract worked better than it otherwise would have."

"Awesome! I can’t wait to see the results!"

"Indeed...I have to say, I’m quite grateful. I didn’t think you would forego some of my abilities for abilities that aren’t particularly essential to you," He remarked gratefully.

"Well, if I were you, and my consciousness was stuck inside another person and unable to do anything but speak to them, I’d probably go crazy. So, I’ll let you borrow my body from time to time, I’m sure Izzy would like that too. And it’s also why I’ve given you access to some of my memories...some entertainment would probably make a big difference," I pointed out, before adding, "Since we’ve probably got some time until I wake up, I’ll sift through more memories to find ones that’d be entertaining to watch. On that note, how much longer will it be before I wake up?"

Specifically, I’ve given him access to my memories of watching movies, anime and TV shows, mostly from my old world, the entertainment there was just so much better. I haven’t told him that I came from another world yet, but he’ll probably figure it out eventually by watching my memories, so I don’t need to.

"Well, it’ll probably be a day or two before all the changes to your body settle down, so you’ll likely remain unconscious until then."

"Oh. Alright, then, in that case...let’s get started with killing some time..."
