Chapter 238: Chapter 238 - Obsidian Civil War(Part 3)

Hm? What’s going on? It sounds like someone’s pounding on my door. I sat up with a groan and rubbed my eyes, letting out a yawn. What time is it?

I glanced at the clock in my room, frowning as the incessant pounding on my door continued...it’s 10 AM. I was training last night, and went to sleep around 3 AM, and I’m still kinda sleepy.

A few more hours of shut eye sounds really appealing right now...but whoever’s hammering away on my door won’t stop, damn it!

I got up with an irritated grumble, putting on my clothes before dragging my feet out of my room and heading for the front door, muttering to myself as the pounding continued, giving me a headache.

"I’m coming, so cut it out!" I snapped before unlocking the door and swinging it open, "What!?"

"Good, you’re up! The town is under attack, it’s them, the True Nobility! Mysst is already out there, along with the other Knights and Adventurers, fighting them. I’m going to join the fight too, get ready and enter the fray as soon as you can, we need you," Lynks informed me urgently, before turning around and taking off.

My eyes widened as I saw plumes of smoke rising up in the distance across several spots in the town, the barrier surrounding the town gone. Oh, no...damn it, this is bad, it’s finally happening, huh?

I shut the door and ran back to my room, putting on my battle gear before rushing back up, leaving my house and running out, slamming the door shut as I sprinted through the streets.

I could hear screams of terror and pain ringing out all around me, clenching my fists as I shot towards the nearest screams, zipping around a corner to see a woman attacking a bunch of civilians while laughing sadistically.

I stayed quiet as I raced towards her, chanting silently to manifest my Soul Weapon as I closed in on her from behind, and stepped onto her shadow...

"Initiate Skill: Shadow Bind," I chanted as I placed my foot onto her shadow, her body freezing up abruptly.

"Wh-what-...!?" She began in alarm, before trailing off as I pressed my Mana Armament against the back of her head.

"Die," I stated icily, firing out a Mana bullet and killing her as it burst through the back of her head and tore into her brain, before turning to the civilians and instructing, "Go hide, lock yourselves in until this battle is over. Go! Now!"

They snapped out of it as I yelled and ran away, before I grimaced and turned around as I heard footsteps approaching from behind.

"What’s the point of that? Once we’ve eliminated all those of you who would resist, we can hunt down and slaughter the rest at our leisure."

It’s a young man, he doesn’t look too much older than I am. He had straight, silky dark blonde hair, dark blue eyes, with a fair complexion and was about average height, with a slender, agile build.

"You people sure do love to declare and celebrate your victories prematurely, don’t you?" I responded dryly, as I fired out several Mana bullets at him, which he blocked by forming a chunk of earth in front of himself, using it as a shield.

"Oh, our victory is all but assured. I mean, just look at you...a dirty, ugly Commoner, do you really think you stand a chance against a Noble, let alone such a fine specimen as myself?" He scoffed as he ran a hand through his hair and flipped it across.

Ugh.

"You caught me in a bad mood, and you’re only making it worse, you shallow, vain piece of shit. I’m looking forward to wiping that vile smirk off your face," I responded, as I charged up a Mana projectile and fired it out at him, which much more momentum than my previous shots.

He swiftly sidestepped to evade it, grimacing as my attack grazed the side of his face and drew out a trickle of blood. He touched at his bleeding cheek with a dark look in his eyes, gritting his teeth furiously as he glared at me with a murderous look in his eyes...

"Y-you...you filthy, rotten Commoner! Do you have any idea who I am!? I am Keman Andso, I was supposed to become a Lieutenant before that deranged, Commoner loving BITCH ousted me from the Knight Order! How...how dare you, how dare you wound my face!? I’ll use everything in my power to make sure you die! Manifest Soul Weapon: Chain-Sickles!" He chanted venomously, metal bands forming around both his wrists, each with long chains attached to them, curved, sickle blades at the end of each chain.

I ducked as he swung his right arm across, sending one of the chains whipping towards my left side, the sickle blade slicing through the air and closing in on me rapidly. The blade flew past the top of my head as I ducked below it, before I shot forward while keeping low, firing out a barrage of Mana bullets at him.

He swung his left arm across before spinning it around, the chain attached to his left wrist rising up front of him and blocking my bullets, before I extended out a blade of Mana from my Soul Weapon as I closed in on him and slashed at his chest, cutting through his armor and grazing his skin as he sprang back before I could step onto his shadow, yanking his right arm back to pull back the first chain, the blade flying towards the back of my head.

I used my Mana blade to deflect his sickle blade before it could hit me, backing away as I fired out more Mana bullets at him, which he blocked with his chains before gritting his teeth as one of my bullets struck the top of his right shoulder.

"For all your bragging, you really aren’t particularly impressive, are you?" I taunted him, taking aim as his body began trembling in anger.

"I’m going to tear you apart...I can’t believe I’m using this against a lowly, fucking Commoner, you should be honored. Contract: Fenrir!" He snapped, a burst of energy exploding out from him as his body began to change shape.

Hm...alright, then, guess I should take him a bit more seriously.
