Chapter 239: Chapter 239 - Obsidian Civil War(Part 4)

Point-of-View: Lynks Perisey

"You damned fools...what the hell could you possibly have been hoping to accomplish by doing this?" I frowned, as I used one of my ring blades to slash open the throat of one of my opponents.

As he stumbled back in gasping agony, I ducked as a fireball came shooting towards me from behind, before spinning around and flinging one of my ring blades at the person who’d fired the Spell at me, his eyes widening in alarm as my weapon flew towards him with a rapid spin, striking his forehead before he could react and piercing into his skull.

"Y-you bastard!" Snapped the last one, sprinting towards me with his Soul Weapon, a spear, poised to strike me.

"Initiate Skill: Switch," I chanted, swapping his position with the position of the guy I’d just killed, the ring blade embedded in his head now stuck inside this guy’s head, killing him before he even realized what had happened.

One of them had let it slip that they were attacking with a force of a hundred people, but that number shouldn’t be too much of a concern. It’s clear that most of them have little to no combat experience, so other than a handful of individuals, the majority of their forces shouldn’t be a problem.

Hm, it’s almost certain that they’re attacking the other towns and the capital as well, likely with a similar force, possibly greater in the capital. Which means they’ve likely stretched the heavy hitters in their forces pretty thin, so-...

Suddenly, my train of thought was cut off as a sharp pain burst out across my midsection, as I found myself stumbling forward with a startled, agonized gasp, collapsing onto my knees.

I stared down at my body, my eyes widening in horror as I saw blood pouring out of my stomach...d-damn it, I was shot straight through the spine, I...I can’t move my legs...

"You should know better than to just stand around in the middle of a battle zone with your guard down," Came a vaguely familiar voice, as footsteps echoed out from behind me.

I turned my body around to get a look at my attacker, my eyes widening in recognition...

"Y-you, I know you...you’re Alistair Wynes, aren’t you?" I grimaced as I clutched my bleeding stomach, struggling to breathe as the pain throbbed throughout my entire body.

He was one of the candidates to become the next Knight Commander, before Commander Aries was picked instead. He disappeared after she began purging the Order of corrupt Knights, I should’ve figured he was a part of the True Nobility.

"Yes, that’s correct. And you are...dead," He smirked, raising an index finger towards my head, crackling with lightning before firing it out in a compressed beam.

I tried to scramble out of the way, before slumping as I realized I can’t dodge this...even if I do, without the use of my legs, I don’t stand a chance either way. I closed my eyes and accepted my fate, a sharp pain hitting my forehead and going in deeper excruciatingly...before everything went dark...

"Surround her and take her down!"

"You made a big mistake, you stupid bitch, what kind of Noble would side with the lowly Commoners!?"

"A fatal mistake, as you’ll soon see!"

Five of them, huh? Easy enough.

"Manifest Soul Weapon: Dimension Gate," I chanted as they surrounded me and began to charge up Spells.

"Huh?"

"The hell kind of Soul Weapon is that?"

"Who cares? Let’s kill her!"

"Now, open...Nightmare Dimension."

Before the could fire their Spells at me, I swallowed them all up into one of my dimensions, along with myself.

As we entered my Nightmare Dimension, all of their charged up Spells dissipated immediately, before horrified screams rang out around me, looks of terror on their faces as they stumbled around, trembling in fear.

When you breathe in the air inside this dimension, it creates terrifying hallucinations of your worst fears. I can hold my breath for about five minutes, which is more than enough time.

These illusions are guaranteed to work unless my targets have the right Resistance Skills, though even if they don’t, if they possess strong enough willpower, they can break free of the illusions without too much difficulty. Clearly, these people aren’t capable of that.

I formed a rock blade as I strolled over towards one of them, who was writhing on the ground while clutching the sides of his head, screaming his lungs out as tears streamed down his face.

I stabbed him through the throat, digging the blade it before pulling it back out with a sharp twist. I then ejected him from my dimension before he could bleed all over it, and then made my way over towards another of them, a woman who was screeching in a shrill, hysterical tone.

It’s like nails on a chalkboard, shut up already.

I drove my rock blade into her open mouth as I manifested twisted spikes along the length of the blade, forcing it down her throat and tearing her throat to shreds with a swift twist of the blade, the spikes ripping her throat apart.

Just three more to kill and I’m done with this batch. I wonder how many more of them there are? I hope Lynks, Ilex and the rest have managed to take down most of them by now. That being the case would mean less work for me...
