Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 241 - Obsidian Civil War(Part 6)
Point-of-View: Gior King Ohph
———————————————————————————
"Manifest Soul Weapon: Bowblade," I chanted, leaping off the top of the building straight down towards a man who had cornered a pair of children.
I swung my blade down as I closed in on him, striking the top of his head and splitting him vertically in half as I sliced straight down the middle of his body.
The children scrambled onto their feet and ran away with terrified looks on their faces as the two halves of the man’s body fell over to either side, loud splats echoing out as blood burst out from his split body.
Hm, guess that was a bit too gruesome for kids. Well, at least they’re alive. A fair trade, I’d say.
Looks like those True Nobility scum have finally made their move, no doubt the other towns are under attack as well. I’m sure the Capital is being attacked too, so-...
"This is such a hassle...I knew we should’ve been better prepared before launching this attack, but speaking against Prince Drakkar when he’s been in such a foul mood would have been suicidal. Most of our forces are just dead weight, so the few of us who actually know what we’re doing are left to shoulder the burden," Sighed a woman’s voice from behind me.
I quickly spun around, switching my Soul Weapon from blade mode to bow mode and forming a flaming arrow, taking aim and firing at the woman, who swiftly shuffled her feet across to the left to evade it, the arrow flying past her right shoulder as she tilted her body across to let it shoot past her.
She was tall and slender, with an agile build. She had long, straight dark brown hair, dark green eyes and a fair complexion. She wore an exasperated look on her face, eyeing me wearily as she stretched her arms up.
When the attack began, I stuck to less populated areas and targeted any stragglers among the enemy, since I don’t want to be spotted by the Knights. We may technically be fighting on the same side here, but I can’t afford to reveal the fact that I’m a Heretic.
Since I’ve been patrolling areas that are less populated, I figured I wouldn’t run into any enemies who are particularly powerful, but this woman seems to be a genuine threat. Just the way she carries herself is giving me that impression. I should keep my guard up here...
"If you feel so strongly about that, then why not just walk away?" I responded dryly, forming three lightning arrows along the length of my Soul Weapon and taking aim at her.
"Yeah, I wish...but unfortunately, that’s not an option. I’ll be frank, I don’t really care about this war, all I want is to ensure my own quality of life...and Commoners getting equal treatment to Nobles is a potential threat to that. So, while this is a pain, it’s all for the sake of my long term goals, so I’ll put up with it."
What? That’s her reason for joining the True Nobility? Seriously?
"That’s gotta be the worst reason I’ve ever heard for committing genocide..."
"Your opinion literally means nothing to me. Now, then, I don’t like getting tired or injured, so I’ll end this quickly. Manifest Soul Weapon: Extenspear," She chanted, forming a spear in her hands before pointing the tip of the weapon at me and rapidly extending it towards me.
I could barely react in time, deflecting the spear off to the side with my Soul Weapon, grimacing as the blade of the spear cut through my sleeve and slashed the skin across my right arm, drawing out blood.
I fired out the lightning arrows at her as the blood trickled down my arm, she quickly retracted her spear and spun it around in front of her, blocking my projectiles with ease, before jumping back as I fired out another lightning arrow at her feet, the projectile hitting the spot on the ground where she’d been standing as she leapt out of the way.
Before she landed, she rapidly swung her spear across in my direction while extending it sharply, a loud clang echoing out as I blocked it with my Bowblade, before quickly grabbing the handle of her spear as she began to retract it, just below the blade.
Her eyes widened in alarm as I came shooting in towards her, pulled along by her spear. I quickly let go of the spear as she stopped retracting it, using the momentum generated to carry myself towards her through the air. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
I slammed my feet onto her chest as she simultaneously struck my left side with a flaming fist, burning through my leather armor and searing my skin before she got sent flying back by the force of my kick, skidding along the ground before bringing herself to a halt by jamming the blade of her spear into the ground with a grimace.
I healed the burn on my side and the cut across my arm as she got back onto her feet, dusting herself off as she moved her body around to check if she’d been injured anymore, while eyeing me cautiously.
"What a pain, you’re pretty skilled. Hm? Oh, your wounds are gone...I didn’t see you use any healing Magic Items, though. Ah, then, you’re a Heretic? Ugh, this is the worst, Heretics have larger arsenals so they’re a huge pain to deal with. Guess I don’t have a choice...Contract: Garuda!"
