Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 242 - Obsidian Civil War(Part 7)
Point-of-View: Phyurio Slymaster Bhaytes
———————————————————————————
"Hey, you’re pretty good, you’re probably on par with most of us Captains. Not bad at all, I’m impressed," Remarked the Knight Captain I was fight alongside with, smiling as he gave me a pat on the shoulder.
We’d been surrounded by a large number of True Nobility troops, about twenty or so of them. But they were tremendously unskilled and incompetent, not even on the level of Bronze-Ranked Adventurers, some of them were visibly out of shape. They’re clearly just regular people with no real training to speak of.
What the hell were they thinking, sending so many troops who clearly have zero prior combat experience? Did they really think gathering a large number of individuals, regardless of quality and only focusing on quantity, would be enough to take down Adventurers and Knights who are vastly more skilled and experienced than they are?
Well, I’m certainly not complaining, this was incredibly easy, I probably could’ve handled this on my own without a problem. Having a Knight Captain fight alongside me made things even more of cakewalk. It wasn’t easy getting used to fighting alongside a Knight when I’ve been fighting against them for so long, but it’s not so bad.
"Thanks. You’re not too bad yourself, I-...," I began with a friendly smile, trailing off as I glanced at him...to see his head flying off his shoulders, a fountain of blood spraying out of his neck as his decapitated head plummeted towards the ground.
My eyes widened in alarm as I spotted the gleam of a blade shooting in towards me, quickly raising Crowbar, my Soul Weapon, to block it. A long clang echoed out as the blade struck my Soul Weapon, the force upon impact causing me to stumble back.
The weapon that I just clashed against, it’s a spinning blade that’s floating in the air by itself, it was like a ceiling fan but with two blades, and a large ring in the middle, connecting the two blades. It then flew away, I followed its trajectory before it came to an abrupt halt as someone caught it by the ring in the middle of it, a smirk on their face as I met their gaze.
"Aw, what a shame...I was so close to taking two of you out in one blow. That was an impressive reaction, there aren’t many people who can block my Soul Weapon, Double Edge," He chuckled, as he ran a hand through his hair.
He looks young, maybe in his late teens or just about in his twenties. He was about average height with a strong build, he had medium-length, straight, silky blue hair, maroon eyes and was wearing black, light leather armor.
Seems like he can telekinetically control his Soul Weapon, and it’s got some serious speed too. This won’t be easy, he’s not like the weaklings I just fought and took down. He’s got real skill and power, I can’t let my guard down against him...
"Hey, dipshit, you do realize that you just killed a fellow Noble, don’t you? I thought the so-called True Nobility’s goal was to eliminate all Commoners, not their fellow Nobles," I called out to him tauntingly.
"Oh, please, you couldn’t be more wrong in your assumptions about us. Well, not that I’d expect a lowly Commoner to understand, of course. It’s not your fault that you’re an uneducated, wretched creature. That’s one of the many reasons we’ve opted to put you livestock out of your misery. And any Nobles who would defend insects like you, and even go low as to fight alongside one of you, is no true Noble as far as I’m concerned. So, if you’ve got nothing else to say, insect...then just roll over and die like the dog you are," He responded with a sneering laugh, as his Soul Weapon floated up out of his hand into the air and began spinning rapidly, before shooting towards me with immense speed.
I watched it carefully, raising the hook end of my Crowbar straight up, and as his rapidly spinning weapon closed in on me, I swiftly swung my weapon straight down, the hook swinging straight into the ring in the middle of his weapon and knocking it down, before trapping it in place against the ground.
I then stomped on one of the blades, keeping my foot firmly planted onto it to keep it from spinning, my opponent’s cocky expression finally fading and giving way to a look of anger.
"H-hey, get...get your filthy fucking foot off my Soul Weapon, you rotten worm!" He snapped, his voice trembling with rage as his face turned red with anger.
Wow, that provoked him real good, didn’t it? It was definitely a hell of a lot more effective than I’d imagined it would be...
His Soul Weapon may be capable of generating incredible spinning speed, but when it starts spinning, it’s a bit slow before picking up speed, I noticed that just before he sent it shooting towards me just now.
"Why don’t you come make me?" I smirked, before gargling my throat and spitting down on the other blade of his Soul Weapon.
Yeah, gross, I know.
But, hey, it definitely worked...he looks like he’s about ready to pop a blood vessel. His anger is clouding his judgement, he could just dematerialize his Soul Weapon and then manifest it again by chanting.
"I’ll make you regret ever being born, you fucking bastard! You’re dead!" He yelled furiously, before meeting my gaze with a look of seething rage in his eyes as he chanted venomously, "Contract: Strix!"
