Chapter 264: Chapter 264 - Lucifer(Part 3)

Point-of-View: Larrk Stryker

———————————————————————————

"Okay...this is it right here," Remarked Landis, as he brought us to the lowest level of the dungeon, a large doorway in front of us.

We’d passed by a few guards on the way down here, and dealt with them without any trouble. We refrained from killing them though.

"Strange...I don’t see any locks or anything on these doors, all I see is an indentation in the shape of a handprint in the middle of the doors. How do we get in?" Inquired Argent with a frown.

"Huh? You mean you brought me down here without knowing that? Only members of Royal blood can unlock this door, just like with the safe room-...," Landis began, before trailing off as I walked over to the doorway and pressed my right palm into the handprint, a hum echoing out before the doors began to slide open.

"Cool. Since we’ve got Royal blood, that applies to us too," I grinned, stepping back as the doors fully opened, lights flickering on inside the room and illuminating it.

And at the back wall of the room, was a shackled, unconscious figure, with a metal vest embedded with Magic crystals. The shackles around her wrists and ankles, along with a metal collar around her neck, also had similar Magic crystals embedded in them.

She’s been down here for a really long time, hasn’t she? She doesn’t look particularly malnourished or anything...she was tall and slender with a curvy build, she had dark purple skin and two long, pointy horns on either side of her head, straight shoulder length dark blue hair, black feathered wings, a long black tail with sharp, arrow-like tip, and razor sharp black claws on her fingers.

"Go on, release her. And make it quick," Remarked Argent, pushing Landis into the room.

"I can’t guarantee that, since for obvious reasons, I’ve never done this before," He responded, entering the room and approaching the Demon.

’Hey, this looks like the same control device I was restrained with,’ Observed Azazel.

Yeah, what about it?

’Well, I should be able to destroy it safely, and it shouldn’t take more than a few seconds to do so,’ He replied, as Landis began tinkering with the control panel.

Hm...yeah, it does look like this might take a while if he does it. Not to mention, there’s a pretty good chance that he intends to activate the control device and have her attack us.

How sure are you that you can free her from the device without killing her? I mean, you did fatally wound yourself when you broke free from the device you were burdened with, so...

’It’s not the same situation. The device was suppressing my control over my body and powers, not to mention my consciousness, I could barely even think straight back then...but this is different. Just touch the devices and leave the rest to me,’ He stated assuringly.

Alright, I’ll trust you with it, just don’t blame me if it doesn’t work out.

’Please, I’ve got this, it’ll be quite easy to pull off, especially since I’m intimately familiar with how those control devices work.’

’Hey, uh, is there anything I can do to help? I’m a bit bored,’ Chimed in Plasmuk.

’Sure, help me with channeling Mana, that should make the process more efficient.’

"Hey, how long is this going to take? We don’t have all day," Remarked Argent, as Landis continued tinkering with the control panel.

"I told you, I’ve never done this before, so-..."

"And you won’t have to. Let me give it whirl," I cut him off, as I approached Lucifer and placed my hand against the metal vest around her torso.

"Uh, Larrk? What’re you doing?" Inquired Argent uncertainly.

"Whatever you’re doing, that won’t-...," Began Landis, before trailing off in disbelief as the Magic crystals embedded in the metal vest shattered into pieces.

"Hm, come to think of it...you should probably get out of here. She’ll probably attack you if she realizes that you’re one of the people who are responsible for keeping her locked away down here for all this time," I pointed out wryly, as I placed my hand on the collar around her neck.

"Yes, I suppose you have a point...but are you really just going to let me go?" He frowned suspiciously.

"Whatever, man, I’ve got no beef with you. Leave if you want to live, I don’t really care either way," I shrugged indifferently as the Magic crystals on the collar shattered, Lucifer’s eyelids twitching slightly.

Landis must have noticed that, because the next thing I knew, he had bolted out the door without hesitation, his footsteps rapidly receding as I moved on to the shackles around her wrists.

"How are you doing that, Larrk?" Argent asked me in surprise, as Azazel destroyed the Magic crystals on the wrist shackles before I moved down to her ankles, placing my hands on the last two control devices.

"Well, it’s not me...this is Azazel’s handiwork, not sure exactly what he’s doing, but it’s definitely working, so-...," I started to respond, as the crystals on the ankle shackles broke apart.

"D-did...did you say Azazel...?"

I quickly backed away warily as Lucifer spoke, regaining consciousness with a dazed look in her eyes as her eyelids slowly opened and met my gaze...

"Yeah, I did...hi, I’m Larrk, and I formed a Contract with Azazel recently. We’re here to get you out of this place," I remarked in a slow, calm tone.

Considering how long she’s been down here, she’d be justified if she were to lash out at the first people she saw now that she’s finally free of those control devices.

So, it’s absolutely imperative that we make sure she knows that we’re not enemies...

"What? A Contract? That’s hard to believe, but...I do sense his Magic in you. And you...," She frowned as she turned her gaze towards Argent while rubbing her wrists gingerly, "You look familiar, somehow."

"Yeah, we met briefly about five years ago. Specifically, I came here with Izzy, and-...," He began to answer.

"Ohh, that’s right! The memories are a bit hazy, but I remember...yes, you were fighting alongside her. Where is she? Is she alright?"

"Yes, she’s fine. She’s here too, actually, she’s creating a distraction up in the city so that the two of could come down here with minimal obstacles," He nodded in response.

"I see...then, she’s okay? That’s good, I-..."

"Ahem...so sorry to interrupt, but we’re in a bit of time crunch here. We can talk plenty once we’re home free, but right now, we should get out of the capital as fast as possible," I spoke up objectively.

It’d suck if we got caught after coming this far...well, I doubt there’s anyone strong enough to stop us by force, but still, better safe than sorry...
