Chapter 369: Chapter 369 - Double Date(Part 2)

"Hah, what a weak strike, that won’t-...what!?" Exclaimed father in surprise, as the ball sharply spun away from him as it hit the table.

"I’ve got it!" Called out mother, zipping across and intercepting the ball inches above the floor, hitting it back.

It hit the edge of our side of the table, before I smashed it back powerfully, the ball hitting the middle of the other side of the table and skidding forward rapidly.

Father began to swing his paddle, but it didn’t bounce as much as he expected, hitting the bottom of his paddle and getting deflected straight down, hitting the floor in the blink of an eye, before bouncing back up and hitting his chin.

"Yes! That’s a point for us!" I grinned, before giving Argent a high five.

"That makes it four points apiece...whoever scores next wins," Remarked Argent, before cracking his neck with a tilt of his head.

"You nailed that spin shot earlier, way to go!" I replied with a smile.

"Thanks, but if I’m being honest, that was kind of a fluke...there’s no way I can consistently control a spin shot with that much force," He admitted sheepishly.

"Even if it was a fluke, it was quite impressive...I am really enjoying this," Spoke up mother with a gleam in her eyes.

"Yes, as am I...I’ll admit, you’ve played well. But I will not lose," Declared father with a determined look in his eyes.

Apparently, my parents heard about ping pong from the other Dragon Kings and Demons, and it piqued both their interests, since the others made it sound like a lot of fun.

We had a couple of practice rounds to help them get the hang of the game, and once they did, we began playing for real, me and Argent versus the two of them.

It had been pretty even so far, each of the four of us have scored two points each, making the score tied at four-four. We’re playing to five points, so the next round will be the last one.

While Argent and I are more skilled since we’ve played this game a lot more, my parents made up for that disadvantage with brute strength, and they’ve managed to land the ball on the table each time.

If they had played this as much as the two of us have, we’d probably be losing, they’ve picked up the game and got the hang of it insanely quickly.

We then began the final volley, starting off with a lower intensity before gradually picking up the pace, the ball traveling back and forth across the table with increasing speed and force.

As mother struck the ball powerfully, sending it zipping towards me, I took a couple of quick steps back, right as it bounced and skidded towards me, before I swung my paddle forward, the ball slamming onto the middle of it and getting launched back...crap, I think that was a bit too much force!

I tensed up for a moment before relaxing at the ball bounced on the edge of the other end of the table, just barely landing on it before it sharply bounced up high.

Father swiftly sprang up towards the ball, raising his paddle and smashing it back down towards us. Argent quickly stepped forward and leaned over the edge of the table, whipping his paddle across right as the ball bounced on the middle of the table.

He intercepted the ball the instant after it bounced, sending it shooting back with a slight curve, hitting the other side of the table and spinning across to the left.

Mother leapt off towards the ball as it spun, just barely reaching it before smacking it back with a flick of her wrist, the ball just barely clearing the net before bouncing towards Argent again.

He hit it back normally, without much force, exchanging a glance with me before we both braced ourselves for it to come back...that was getting really intense, he must have decided to slow down the rally to give us a moment to catch our breath and regain our bearings.

They’re probably going to return the ball with a lot of power, we need to get ready for-...

"I’ve got it!" They exclaimed in unison, getting in each other’s way as they both went to intercept the ball, their shoulders bumping against each other before the ball zipped through right in between them.

Father quickly arched back and reached out with his paddle, trying to hit the ball, but only managing to graze it with the top of the paddle, before it hit the floor and bounced away.

"Looks like we win...kind of a anticlimactic finish though," Remarked Argent with a wry smile.

"Yes, that was a disappointing way to lose...despite that, I must say, I quite enjoyed that," Replied mother, as she picked up the ball.

"Heh, I bet you had a whole lot of comments lines up to berate me with if you’d won...how does it feel now that you won’t get to say any of it?" Smirked Argent tauntingly.

"Wha-...n-no, I had no such intentions, don’t act like you’ve got me all figured out!" Huffed father indignantly.

"I believe his assessment is correct, I could sense some deceit in your response," Chimed in mother.

"And I don’t need to be able to sense deceit to know that that was a lie," Added Argent, as he flicked his paddle up into the air and caught it.

"Come on, don’t provoke him. Don’t stoop down to his level," I sighed as I bumped my shoulder against him.

"Wha-...Izzy!" Father exclaimed indignantly.

"Yeah, you’re right...I should be the bigger person and take the high road," Nodded Argent, flashing father a smile. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

He’s still provoking him. For all his complaints about father giving him a hard time, he’s almost just as bad...

"Alright, that’s it...I demand a rematch! And this time, I won’t lose!" Declared father with a determined look on his face.

"Ahem, don’t you mean we?" Inquired mother with a raised eyebrow.

"Y-yes, that’s what I meant."

"Oh? But it wasn’t what you said."

"I-I, uh..."
