Point-of-View: Izzozon

"Oh, this is delicious...I’ve tried so many different foods since coming here, and I’ve rarely been disappointed. I hadn’t eaten anything in over a century before I joined Arcadia, but now, I’ve been eating almost every single day, it’s rather addicting," Remarked mother, as she munched on a piece of steak.

A couple of hours had passed since we met up at the arcade, and after playing games nonstop during that time, we decided to head out and have dinner at a restaurant.

Father and Argent have barely gone five minutes without snipping at each other, at this point, I can’t imagine them ever really getting along. I suppose I might as well make peace with that fact...

"Not gonna lie, I’m kinda envious...never needing to eat but still being able to enjoy it when you get the chance, that sounds great," Mused Argent thoughtfully.

"That’s the difference between immortals like us and mortals like you. We don’t need sustenance to survive, our bodies don’t age or detoriate whatsoever. Of course, we can certainly appreciate good food and drink, but it isn’t essential to our survival," Said father, as he took a sip of wine.

"Well, the Elder Vampires are a bit of an exception. While they are immortal, if they go too long without consuming human blood, they’ll gradually grow weaker and weaker, which can result in them entering a period of hibernation for decades to recover their strength. It isn’t fatal to them, but it does make them much more vulnerable...and that’s exactly why they do everything they can to make sure they don’t end up in that state, it’s why they lived among humans prior to taking over the Light Continent," Replied mother, as she continued wolfing down the steak contentedly. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"I see, interesting...it’s too bad we don’t have a way to deprive them of their human blood supply, that could give us an edge in the upcoming battle," Sighed Argent wistfully.

"On another note, there is something I need to say. But first, to begin with, I’ll admit it...you aren’t so bad, Argent Stryker. I cannot deny that you are worthy of respect. However, despite that, I cannot approve of your relationship with my daughter," Frowned father, as he set down his glass.

"Not this again, I thought I told you to drop it!" I responded indignantly.

"I have a good reason for saying this...as I just mentioned, we’re immortal while you are mortal. Izzy will not age, she could potentially live forever...but you won’t stop aging, and in a matter of decades, you will die. For Izzy to get strongly emotionally attached to someone who will no longer exist in what will feel like a blink of an eye to her, I see no merit in such a relationship, all you’re doing is wasting her time," He stated with a grimace.

"Yeah, you have a point with some of what you said. I don’t agree with everything you said, but I can’t deny that some of it was valid. I know that you guys experience and perceive time a lot differently to how I do. What I perceive to be a significant amount of time would barely feel like a few moments to you.

Even so...I don’t think that matters. It certainly doesn’t change how I feel about Izzy, and even if my time with her will be insignificant in the grand scheme of things, I don’t believe that makes it meaningless and devoid of merit. I love her with all my heart, and I’d protect her with my life if it came down to it. And if you don’t approve of that, then so be it...it changes nothing for me," Remarked Argent without hesitation.

"Just so you know, I feel the same way. I’m well-aware of the fact that he won’t be around forever, I can’t change that...but all that means is that I need to make the most of the time that I do have with him, that’s all. I know it’ll hurt, I’ll probably be depressed for a while...but I can say this with absolute confidence, I will never, EVER regret it," I declared with a huff.

"There is a solution to this...if he were to form a Contract with a Demonic Grade Monster like Larrk Stryker has, he will become effectively immortal," Pointed out mother, as she finished off her food.

"I’d be lying if I said that hadn’t crossed my mind, but it isn’t all that realistic. What Larrk did, managing to get two Demonic Grade Contracts, is absolutely unprecedented and unheard of, the odds of it are really low," Responded Argent wryly.

"Still, you never know, such an opportunity may eventually present itself to you. Hm...okay, how about this? If I ever end up on the verge of death, I shall form a Contract with you."

"Wait, what?" Blurted out father incredulously.

"U-uh, that’s kinda heavy to process and take in...," Added Argent in bemusement.

"Oh, don’t get me wrong, I have no intention of sacrificing myself or anything. But if I’m about to die anyway, then I’d have nothing left to lose. Furthermore, I’ve grown quite fond of Izzy, so I would not mind doing that as it would make her happy. I’ve never felt any affection for the Dragons and Dragonoids I’ve birthed, but this is different, I get a pleasant feeling in my chest at the sight of her," Remarked mother, as she reached over and patted my head.

"U-um, thanks, that’s really nice to hear," I muttered awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed, but also happy.

"Oh, very well...I won’t bring up this topic anymore," Sighed father, before picking up his glass and chugging down the contents.

"Yeah, you better not...I love you, but please don’t interfere in my relationship with Argent again. Promise me that you won’t," I frowned as I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Don’t worry, I am not one to go back on my word, rest assured of that. I promise that I will not object or interfere in this matter ever again."

"I must say, this was quite an enjoyable day, we should do this again," Remarked mother, as she shoved a handful of fries into her mouth.

"Uh...yeah, sure," Replied Argent, not particularly convincingly.

Not gonna lie, I kinda feel the same...
