Chapter 371: Chapter 371 - Live in the Moment

"You’re awfully quiet, it’s not like you," Remarked Frielektra, glancing at me as we flew across the sky.

"Yes, well, I’ve got a lot on my mind," I replied with a sigh.

About half an hour had passed since dinner, Izzy and Argent Stryker headed back home after we finished eating, wrapping up the outing.

The conversation we had during the meal had given me much to think about, and I can’t deny that I feel conflicted and uncertain about how I feel about their relationship.

At first, I was mainly opposed to their relationship because I still held resentment towards the humans, justifiably so, considering what humans had put us Demons through.

But ever since I got settled and used to life in Arcadia, especially after that tournament, I’ve begun to see the humans in a different light, and the resentment and animosity towards them has all but faded at this point.

That’s not to say that I’ve gotten over what the humans of the past did to the Demons, of course, that is something I can never forget or forgive...I simply realized that there was no point in directing that hatred at humans who had nothing to do with it, they aren’t responsible for the actions of the humans of the past just because they’re the same species.

I believe the others have begun to come to the same conclusion, after interacting and being around the humans of this nation...I had been apprehensive towards the idea of coexisting with humans at first, but now, I can see that it really is possible.

Even so, I still had my doubts about their relationship, for the very reason I brought up during the conversation...humans only live for around a century, and most of their functionality is deteriorated and weakened after six or seven decades.

And as their bodies decline, so do their minds, until they eventually succumb and pass on. The time Izzy spends with that human will be little more than a fraction of her life, and it’ll become more and more of a speck as time marches on.

But she is fully aware of that, she made that quite clear...and even with that knowledge, her decision remains unchanged.

I hate to admit it, but I can understand why...he clearly cares for her immensely, I have no room to doubt that. While he isn’t as afraid of me as he initially was, even back then, he refused to budge, my threats and efforts to intimidate him had no effect on his resolve.

And I can’t help but admire that...even though I would never admit that to him, just the thought of that is absolutely mortifying.

"You think too much, Satan. Why not simply live in the moment instead of thinking too far ahead? It isn’t possible to predict what will happen decades in advance, we learned that the hard way over two hundred years ago," Pointed out Frielektra.

"You’re not wrong, but still..."

"You aren’t going to accomplish or change anything by just thinking about it restlessly. That isn’t to say that you should live completely thoughtlessly, of course, but you could stand to be a bit more carefree. It seemed quite apparent to me that Izzy is immensely happy with Argent Stryker, do you really want to sully that happiness? Because that may well be what ends up happening if keep objecting to it."

"Yes, I know that. That’s why I promised her that I wouldn’t bring it up anymore, I don’t want to ruin her happiness, and I certainly don’t want her to end up resenting me for it...but even so, I just can’t help but worry and-...," I began with a strained sigh, before trailing off as she suddenly kissed me on the cheek, catching me off guard before I turned my gaze towards her in bemusement and responded, "Er...what was that for?"

"Hm? Oh, Izzy did that to Argent Stryker earlier, and that seemed to uplift his spirits quite a bit. Did it not work?" She replied with a slight tilt of her head.

Hm...that was incredibly attractive. And that fact that she isn’t doing it on purpose makes it even more so...

"No, it certainly did...I just wasn’t expecting it, that’s all," I said with a wry smile.

"I see...then, should I tell you beforehand before doing it?" She mused thoughtfully.

"No, that’s okay...I’m not opposed to being surprised," I remarked, before wrapping my arm around her waist and pulling her closer to me.

"Oh, that feels nice..."

"I’m glad to hear it," I replied, as I cupped her cheek before pressing my lips against hers.

She was quick to reciprocate, as I caressed her lips with mine, her tail coiling around me as she wrapped her arms around my shoulders.

She then shuddered slightly as I ran my hands down her sides, before cupping one of her breasts as I slid my other hand down to her hip, as we pulled away for a moment to catch our breath.

"Hm? Do you want to procreate?" She inquired, as she glanced down at my crotch.

"Er, well...I was thinking for more pleasure than procreation, per say..."

"I see...yes, I do remember immensely enjoying it, and it has been quite a while since I experienced that pleasure. Perhaps it’s time you reminded me of that sensation," She replied with a smile, my heart skipping a beat before my impulses took over and I pressed my lips against hers again, kissing her with increasing fervor and passion as we hovered above the clouds, the moonlight bathing us in its glow...
