Chapter 386: Chapter 386 - Vampire Attack(Part 12)

Hm, based on the information we were able to gather, Arcadia’s Capital should be just a little further ahead. Ideally, I’d have liked to have had a lot more information, but it would have been effectively impossible to get any intel that’s more detailed that what we already had.

Especially after the nations of the Dark Continent began conducting checks to find any Vampires hiding among them by having people display their Magic, which left us with no choice but to withdraw all of our spies.

If we still had them in place and had more recent information, the odds would be even more heavily stacked in our favor...at least a few of the others seem to have overestimated the likelihood of our victory, despite my warnings to them to remain cautious.

Still, regardless, the odds are very much in our favor. And we can glean confidence from that, we just need to make sure we don’t let ourselves get too complacent.

Hm? Ah, I believe that’s the nation’s Capital, just up ahead...alright, I’ll have the Vampires and Lesser Vampires charge in, and then I’ll wait for the strongest individuals in the city to show up and deal with them myself.

The Vampires, not to mention the Lessers, are nowhere near strong enough to fight the Demons, Dragon Kings and any other beings who are even close to that level, it would be a waste of our forces to even have them attempt to fight such beings.

But with the moonlight barrier giving us access to our full power whenever we please, we Elder Vampires are unmatched in battle.

Hm, I can sense that most of my Vampires who are in other locations have been killed...well, the humans were expecting and prepared for our attack, and no doubt the Demons and Dragon Kings gave them plenty of information about us and our forces as well.

Well, no matter...we don’t need to wipe out the entirety of the human forces, nor do we want to. We just need to eliminate the strongest individuals among them, along with the Demons, and Dragon Kings, and our victory will be complete.

Ah, and we should wipe out the Demi-Humans as well...they aren’t quite powerful enough to threaten us, but only human blood serves as sustenance to us, so there’s no point in allowing any other beings to live.

Now, then, I’ve arrived at my destination...it’s time to begin.

"Now, flood into the city and run wild, show no mercy!" I declared, before the Vampires and Lessers began to rush forward, approaching the border of the city.

Hm? Wait...something is strange. There’s an odd sheen on the outer wall and the ground ahead of it...what is that? It doesn’t appear to be natural...

My eyes widened in alarm as the sheen suddenly shifted, before expanding and spreading out into an enormous mass of sludge as it rose up, all the Vampires and Lessers getting ensnared and caught within it before they could react.

Several of the Vampires began to fly away, but the sludge rapidly converged in and enveloped them, engulfing the majority of my forces, save for a few hundred Lessers, before a loud sizzle rang out, yells of pain ringing out.

Is that...acid? It’s melting them all away, what the hell is this? I’ve never seen anything like it before.

I could do nothing but watch as all the Vampires and most of the Lesser Vampires were reduced to nothing within the large mass of acidic sludge, the Lessers disappearing without a trace, as several cores came into sight as the acid wiped out the bodies of the Vampires, before the cores began to melt away too.

"Man, that felt pretty nasty...it was kinda disconcerting spreading myself out and blanketing such a wide area, and the feeling of all those bodies melting away was more than a little unpleasant," A voice echoed out disdainfully from the sludge, right as a massive blast of energy came barreling across the ground and engulfed the remaining Lessers, wiping them out.

I know that energy, that’s...!

"Obliteration...so, it’s you, Demon Lord Satan," I remarked with a frown, turning my gaze in the direction the blast had come from, to see him flying up into the air.

"It’s been some time, Vampire King Dracula," He greeted me, right as the mass of sludge shrank down immensely and took a humanoid shape, before solidifying.

That appearance, he must be the human with the Demonic Grade Contracts...our information had no indication that he was capable of an attack like that.

"Unpleasant as that was, it sure was effective...now we only need to worry about it you," He remarked with a smirk, as wings resembling that of a Demon’s sprouted out of his shoulders blades and he took off into the air with a powerful flap of his wings.

"Indeed, I’d failed to anticipate that my forces would be wiped out so easily. Still, it’s quite foolish of you to show yourself to me, human," I responded, as I cracked my neck.

"What, you think I don’t stand a chance against you just because I’m human?" He replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, that’s right...but I am not simply saying that out of pride, I say it as a fact. You might be able to put up a decent fight against one of the others...but all humans will find themselves at my mercy when they’re in my presence. Allow me to demonstrate...Die," I chanted as I locked my gaze onto him, before my eyes widened in surprise as nothing happened.

"Hm? Was that supposed to do something?" He inquired with a smirk.

Because of his Contracts, I assumed that my Unique Ability, Absolute Command, would be less effective against him directly than against ordinary humans, but I did not think it would be completely ineffective...it seems his Contracts have widened his Mana capacity more than I anticipated.

How unfortunate, it would appear I’ve made several miscalculations here. But there’s no sense in dwelling on that...if Absolute Command cannot affect him directly, I’ll simply try it indirectly.

As the human and Satan came charging in towards me, I shifted my gaze across at them, before chanting...

"Shockwave."

A powerful force erupted around me, knocking them both back several meters through the air, before they regained their balance and eyed me warily.

Alright, then...it’s time to begin in earnest...
