Chapter 389: Chapter 389 - Vampire Attack(Part 15)

"Well, this isn’t good...," Muttered Aratron warily.

"We aren’t defeated yet...let’s tear him apart!" I exclaimed as I shot towards Jagger, meeting his gaze as I closed in and chanted, "Mind Control!"

"That isn’t going to work," Remarked the Elder Vampire, before a dark mist surrounded his hands as he reached out towards me with his right hand, his arm shooting out rapidly.

I quickly halted and veered across to my left as fast as I could, his hand clamping around my right shoulder.

I winced sharply as the skin and flesh around that spot rotted rapidly and painfully, sprays of blood bursting out before I managed to break free of his grasp as the flesh around my shoulder fell apart.

I unleashed a burst of Negative Energy and flew back as fast as I could, before Aratron’s Devour jaws zipped forward, my shoulder regenerating as I got some distance.

Jagger swiftly flew up and swerved across the air as the jaws of energy closed in on him and snapped shut, evading the attack before he unleashed a barrage of rapid, pressurized blood arrows all around the space.

I quickly formed a wall of Negative Energy in front of myself, his arrows peppering my energy shield with immense piercing force, before several of them burst right through.

I gasped in pain as a few of the arrows struck my torso and got lodged in as they pierced through me, several more bloood arrows grazing my side.

Damn it...it seems I can only use my Negative Energy and physical attacks against him, my mind-related powers don’t seem to be effective against him.

My Mind Control ability, which I tried to use against him just now, allows me to control a target once activated, by making eye contact with them within a ten meter range...it isn’t fully effective against powerful beings, but I was at least hoping that it’d be enough to slow him down for a couple of seconds.

It’ll be tough to use Mind Break on him again, since I need to make direct physical contact with his head to use that ability...and even if I was able to pull it off, it’s certain to be less effective against him than it was earlier.

And then there’s my Hallucinatory Mist...I can’t use that one either. It’s highly unlikely to be effective against him, and even if it was, it would also affect Aratron, and more effectively that it would affect the Vampire...damn it, how are we supposed to beat this guy!?

Aratron then shot towards him, having blocked the blood arrows by swallowing them up with his Devour ability.

He zigzagged across the air as Jagger fired off slashing waves of blood at him, narrowly evading them before sending his Devour jaws shooting out towards the Vampire.

I swiftly took aim and backed him up by unleashing a relentless barrage of Negative Energy blasts, as Jagger extended out several blood tendrils and whipped them around to block and deflect my blasts.

He grimaced and sprang back as Aratron’s Devour jaws swallowed up his blood tendrils and barreled forward towards him, snapping shut as it closed in on him and tearing off the skin and a thin layer of flesh from around his stomach, blood pouring out as the Vampire let out a stifled gasp of pain.

His Senescence power is certainly strong, but it isn’t a great match up against us...it has no effect on energy-based attacks, like our Negative Energy and Aratron’s Devour ability.

And since we can regenerate, any damage he inflicts won’t be lasting...we just need to wear him out, he may be more powerful than we are, but his stamina isn’t infinite.

As much as I hate to admit it, Aratron’s a better match up against him than I am, I’ll just have to let him take the vanguard while I back him up from a distance...with most of my main abilities ineffective against Jagger, I’ll have to swallow my pride and hang back. We can do this, it’s-...

"It seems even with my full power, I don’t quite have the luxury of dragging my feet...very well, then. I suppose you’ve left me with no choice but to put expend some real effort into this," Sighed Jagger, before he suddenly shot towards Aratron with an alarming burst of speed.

He rapidly veered across as Aratron fired off a piercing beam of Negative Energy at him, easily evading the attack before he fired off pressurized bursts of blood from the soles of his feet to launch himself forward.

He closed in on Aratron, too fast for him to react to, before letting out a sharp gasp of pain as Jagger plunged his claws into the middle of Aratron’s torso, lodging his hand in before giving in a sharp twist.

Aratron coughed out blood with an agonized wheeze, before gritting his teeth and lifting his gaze...

"Th-this won’t be enough to-...," He began as he started to swing his claws across at Jagger’s forearm, while simultaneously sending his Devour jaws zipping up, engulfing Jagger’s head and starting to snap shut. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Senescence Burst," Chanted Jagger...right before Aratron’s entire body fell apart, collapsing onto a pile of rotted flesh and brittle, crumbled bone.

My eyes widened in horror before I shot forward as I spotted Aratron’s core plummeting, but I was too late. As the Devour jaws snapped shut and tore off Jagger’s head right before the energy faded, Jagger fired out a pressurized, piercing burst of blood from his fingertip, which drilled through the middle of Aratron’s core.

Deep cracks spread out from the middle of the core as Jagger’s decapitated body collapsed onto its knees, before his head began growing back rapidly as Aratron’s core shattered to pieces, falling onto the pile of what was left of his body.

"N-no...," I uttered shakily, as I came to a stop and stumbled back, my blood running cold as Jagger stood back up, his head fully regenerated, "Wh-what just...what just happened?"

"It’s simple...when my full power is unleashed, I can momentarily spike the intensity of my Senescence. Not only does the aging effect become a lot faster, but the range expands as well. Now, then...that’s one down," Remarked Jagger, as he stepped over Aratron’s remains and narrowed his eyes at me...
