SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes
Chapter 86: Top 50
Desther could have continued their usual setup and still allow Noah to rise through the top 10 without any problem.
However, the problem with that kind of setup was that Noah would gain recognition without the strength to actually back it up.
It was alright if he only stayed inside a shelter, but if he ever went out, danger would always be on his side without any strength to confront it.
Hence, he figured that instead of doing the usual, it would be in Noah’s interest to let him actually face the monster on his own.
Their first agreement was only to protect Noah anyway.
Hearing that, Noah nodded his head in agreement.
Although it was good to be carried like this, it would eventually come back to bite him in the ass later on.
He was also reminded by his father about this once.
Having friends was good, but when it matters most, only you could truly be relied on.
’I wonder if Desther is actually this strong because he doesn’t have any friends to rely on?’
That absurd thought rose inside his mind before he heard Desther’s shout.
"Go!"
Noah shook his head and got rid of the distracting thoughts. He tightened his grip on the bat and the shield as he ran forward to meet the Demon Bunny head on.
The Demon Bunny raised its head and released a scream upon seeing Noah.
Its sharp claws glistened along with its red eyes as it dashed toward him with rage-filled eyes.
Noah gritted his teeth and suppressed his fear and continued to dash forward.
BAM!
The Demon Bunny leapt forward with great strength, while Noah met its strike with his shield.
The strength of the two parties actually did not differ that much. Although Noah was a strength-oriented professional, the Demon Bunny was still higher in level even though it was an agility-type monster.
The first confrontation ended up in a draw.
Noah smashed the Demon Bunny with his bat, but the Demon Bunny actually blocked it with its claws.
Just when it was about to use its other claw to slash Noah, a bang was suddenly heard.
Blood spurted out as it lay weakly on the ground.
Noah was surprised at this. A chill went down his spine. His arm was too close to the bullet wound on the Demon Bunny’s body.
He gulped a mouthful of saliva but, nevertheless, delivered the final strike or two to end the Demon Bunny’s life.
He stared at Desther and asked, "Bro, make sure you don’t miss from now on, alright?"
His voice was slightly shaky, not because of his fight with the monster, but because of the thought of the bullet almost hitting his arm.
’I swear, if this goes on, I might die due to a bullet and not a monster’s strike. I kinda get why they don’t allow students to bring such dangerous things to school...’
"Dont worry! I’m very good at it," Desther stated confidently as he crouched down to take the Demon Bunny’s middle claws.
After he was done, Noah took a selfie with the Demon Bunny’s corpse. His face was still pale as he faced the camera with a wry smile.
Unfortunately, there were no experience points from this Demon Bunny.
"We’ll leave this one behind for now, we’ll get it on the way back."
The plan to dump them all in one place was still in motion. The more corpses there were, the more it would attract more monsters to check it out as well.
They were not considerably far from that area, though, so they could only leave this corpse behind for now and just get it on their way back later.
It did not take long for them to find their next target. Still a lone Demon Bunny.
Noah charged forward without waiting for Desther’s order.
The usual setup repeated, with Desther assisting Noah from behind with his two revolvers.
Noah gulped a mouthful of saliva as he delivered the final strike on the monster’s head. The bullet wound on the monster’s shoulder was a clear indication that Desther once again fired the revolver with him still attacking the monster.
Although it was dangerous, he kind of believes Desther now when he says that he doesn’t miss it.
It was absurd to think that a teen like Desther was truly capable of doing such a ridiculous thing. It was to the point that Noah thought that Desther might have awakened a very powerful aiming talent.
Else, how could he be so precise with the bullets?
They moved to the next target, and they killed Demon Bunnies and other monsters one after the other.
The further they moved away from their tree base, the more they encountered Demon Bunnies more frequently.
The more they encountered Demon Bunnies, the more Noah felt the death closing in on him as well.
By the time noon arrived, Noah had a lifeless expression on his face as he looked at Desther taking a selfie with their recent kill.
This was already the 18th kill they had for this morning alone.
And on those 18 monsters they killed, he always felt death gripping his neck every time he heard a bang sound in the distance.
Fortunately, Desther was always precise, never hitting him, not even once. All his bullets went to the monster in the most opportune timing and spot.
Now, Noah was already courageous enough to face the monsters head on, but the thought of a bullet following closely behind him... he just could not get used to it any time soon.
With this selfie, Desther now has a total of 3 points. He was no longer the last person in the ranking but was still among the last 10.
Noah, on the other hand, now has a total of 30 points, placing him back in the top 50 rankings once more.
To be more precise, he was now the 44th student in the individual rankings.
Their Class A remained in second place, while Class D still sits at the top.
The top rankings have now changed a lot as well.
First place was still the combat student from Class D, but the second and third places were actually a tight race between two people.
