Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Mysterious Big Shot

’Dammit! I really screwed up this time!’

She had only turned off her Light Computer’s screen, not exited Lucy’s livestream!

To hide her mortification, Su Yaoyao’s mind raced, and she stammered out a weak excuse. "There are so many ads these days, always with these pop-ups. I must have clicked one by accident, hahaha..."

While forcing a laugh, she frantically cursed her clumsy hands in her head. Her fingers tapped frantically at the virtual screen as she muttered under her breath, "Stupid hands, move faster!"

After a great deal of effort, she finally managed to exit the livestream, and the heart-pounding, blush-inducing sounds came to an abrupt halt.

Su Yaoyao let out a long sigh of relief, wiping the nervous sweat from her forehead. She was having a complete meltdown inside, despairing to herself.

’How can anyone be this embarrassing? How am I ever going to face him again?’

Augustine, however, said nothing. His expression was calm and unruffled.

Beastmen were open by nature. In his eyes, this wasn’t a big deal at all. In fact, it was quite normal; everyone had desires.

Augustine raised his hand and gently twisted the jet-black Light Computer ring on his finger, his movements elegant and practiced.

A moment later, a friend request notification popped up on Su Yaoyao’s Light Computer.

Su Yaoyao hesitated for a second before accepting. Immediately, a new contact card appeared in her address book.

"Au-gus-tine." Su Yaoyao, sitting in her wheelchair, leaned forward slightly. Her eyes were glued to the screen as she slowly sounded out the name, syllable by syllable.

Her brow furrowed unconsciously. The name seemed to carry a strong sense of antiquity and an unfathomable mystique.

Looking at the contact card again, she saw that besides the name, all other information was blank—kept completely private.

Far away in his palace, as if by telepathy, Augustine happened to catch the exact moment Su Yaoyao spoke his name.

He raised a slight eyebrow, a fleeting trace of amusement flashing in his deep eyes. The corner of his mouth curved into a faint, ambiguous smile as he asked, "What’s this? Are you that interested in my name?"

Caught off guard by the question, Su Yaoyao’s face instantly flushed red again, like a ripe tomato.

She quickly waved her hands, explaining in a rush, "No, no, I really didn’t mean to! It just slipped out. Please don’t mind me. It’s just... I think your name is very unique. It has a strange, wonderful feeling I can’t quite describe."

After she finished, she secretly glanced up, cautiously studying Augustine’s powerfully intimidating aura in the virtual projection. She couldn’t help but think to herself:

’This guy is a complete mystery, inside and out. It’s so intriguing.’

Seeing Su Yaoyao’s nervous yet adorable expression, Augustine couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.

His laugh was deep and magnetic, echoing gently through the empty, silent conference room as if it held a special magic.

Still smiling, he leaned back gently against his chair and slowly crossed his arms over his chest. His posture seemed casual and relaxed, yet it faintly exuded an innate authority that warned others not to underestimate him.

Su Yaoyao scratched her head awkwardly and gave a couple of dry laughs, trying to dispel the awkwardness hanging in the air.

Suddenly, as if a lightbulb went off in her head, her eyes lit up, and she asked curiously:

"Are you always this mysterious? Look at your contact card—it has nothing but a name. Then you look at Bai Lian’s card: White Lion, SS-level... even his military rank is listed, clear as day."

Hearing this, a meaningful glint flashed in Augustine’s eyes. Of course, he wouldn’t casually reveal his identity as the ruler of the Empire.

In fact, knowing the little female’s timid nature, he felt that if she knew he was the absolute ruler of the Empire, she would definitely be scared into hiding far away from him, avoiding him at all costs in the future.

With that in mind, Augustine deftly sidestepped the question, replying in a relaxed tone, "Everyone has their own unique style. As for me, I just prefer to keep a low profile."

Hearing this, Su Yaoyao couldn’t help but pout and mutter under her breath, "Still so secretive."

Though she said it quietly, Augustine’s sharp hearing still caught it.

Miraculously, not only was he not angry or annoyed, but he actually found the little female’s straightforwardness adorable, and his fondness for her grew a little more.

Augustine didn’t explain further. He simply raised his hand again and, with a few quick taps on his Light Computer, sent the precise coordinates for the medical department to Su Yaoyao.

Su Yaoyao received the information and took a closer look, only then realizing, "Oh, so the medical department is in another direction."

She looked up, a sweet smile blooming on her face, and said sincerely, "Thank you so much!"

Staring at Su Yaoyao’s brilliant smile on the screen, Augustine found himself momentarily lost in a daze.

Her smile was so pure and beautiful, like a ray of light that shone directly into his world, which was usually shrouded in power and authority, causing a strange ripple in his heart.

Su Yaoyao’s cheeks still held a faint blush, her eyes retaining traces of her earlier embarrassment and nervousness. She bit her lower lip slightly and spoke to Augustine with a touch of shyness:

"Well... I’m going to go find Pani now. Bye-bye!" Her voice was soft yet a little hurried, as if she wanted to quickly end this awkward yet wonderful encounter and get on with her original plan to apologize.

Before Augustine could respond, Su Yaoyao frantically reached out and touched the statue.

She guessed that the spot to connect the call was the same one used to disconnect it.

In an instant, the virtual projection of Augustine’s handsome and mysterious face vanished without a trace, leaving only the empty conference room in its place.

In his distant palace, Augustine stared blankly at the screen that had suddenly gone dark. He was a bit stunned; it was the first time anyone had ever dared to hang up on him.

He leaned forward slightly, his hands unconsciously gripping the arms of his throne, his deep eyes filled with reluctance to let her go.

The little female’s lively eyes and adorable expressions seemed to keep flashing before his own.

Augustine slowly leaned back into his chair and gently twisted the jet-black Light Computer ring on his finger. A meaningful smile gradually spread across his lips.

’It’s alright,’ he silently comforted himself. ’I have her contact information now. There will be plenty of opportunities to talk with her in the future.’

’Maybe the next time we meet, she’ll cause another amusing little incident like this one.’

At this thought, a spark of amusement lit up Augustine’s eyes. He began to look forward to his next encounter with Su Yaoyao, pondering what sort of special opening he could use to get this simple, adorable little female to show him more of her interesting side.
