The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness
Chapter 177: The Truth
"Could you help me zip this please?" Isadora called the statue after giving up on a number of attempts. Not that sge wanted to call him but the fact that he was the only one around was the only option she had, at least for now. "Sure," he said, a playful smirk dancing on his face. He stalked towards her like a predator yet his mission was the complete opposite. Her cheeks had already heated up for the nth time today. "Turn around," came his hypnotic voice. Isadora obeyed brushing her hair slightly to reveal the zip, but to Alexander, she was setting him on fire already. He gazed at her inviting neck before placing his cold fingers on her bare back. He could feel her stiffen and her breath hitch. Her scent! Lord! It reminded him of a warm summer breeze. "Hmm hmm," she feigned clearing her throat catching Alexandre attention. It was supposed to be a simple task yet he was taking ages. He got that as a cue and zipped her dress so damn slowly. "Thank you," she said taking a few steps away from him. Having him close would only act to bring those alien feelings again. "What is it the surprise you want to give me?" She asked combing her hair by the dresser. Perplexed, Alexander walked closer to where she sat and smiled at her through the mirror. "Just wait and see. I’m certain you’ll love it."Isadora had to remind herself that she was combing her hair. That bewitching smile of his! She could not deny that he affected her that much that she had to remind herself to breath. Alexander smiled inwardly seeing the effect he had on her already. That was fast! He had thought taming the lioness would take a month or two, but this! Where was the iron lady he had seen on the first day? His gaze shifted to her lush body and settled on her sleeveless arms. And wait! Hadn’t he sunk his claws on her skin last night? Now, not even a scar was present on her skin. It looked as smooth and flawless as he could remember. No! He must be dreaming, right? "Your hand," he said catching an already blushing Isadora’s attention. She lifted her face and stared at it, a knowing look lighting her face. "It healed!" "About that, I wanted to tell you about it but I forgot," she said. "Don’t look at me like that. I also don’t know how it happened." She explained. "It must be what the seer told me," Alexander mumbled to himself bit that didn’t go unheard by Isadora. "Seer? What did he tell you?" She asked looking confused. Alexander stared at her for a moment contemplating on what to tell her. Would she forgive him if he told her this? But she’d know anyways. "Actually, I brought you here not because of I wanted to settle the political differences between Crescia and Valoria but because you were the only one who could help me." He paused searching for an emotion on her face but all he could see was confusion. "The seer told me that you were the only person that could help me get rid of the beast inside of me. I’m sorry I lied," he added. Did it come out perfectly like an apology? He had never apologized before! He searched for her face again but her face was unreadable. Did she hate him now? "I’m sorry," he said again, adding a hint of emotion to it. "Don’t be," Isadora said cupping his cheeks in her hands. "I am glad I could help you, if that’s what I was meant for. No one can escape their own fate." Alexander gazed into her orbs, tears threatening to break anytime soon. "Don’t you fear me? Don’t you hate me? I am dangerous princess. I hurt you, and I might do it again. I think you should get back to Crescia." "Never!" She said, her voice firm. "I am mare to you, and you’re sending me back home? That we’ll be a disgrace to our family." And hugging him tightly, "I want to stay with you. I want to help you. Please don’t leave me," she begged. Alexander was on the verge to cry now. No one had ever loved him before but this woman! Didn’t she know who he was? He had killed thousands if not millions of her people with his bare hands! And she still wanted to stay with him? She must be foolish! But on the other hand, he didn’t know if his demon was laying low or just waiting for the right time to bounce back. What if it sufficed and she was not there. He’d go savage again. But what he feared most was hurting her. He had done it once and feared to do it again. He would never forgive himself if he drew another drop of blood from her. "Hush," he consoled wrapping his arms around her small frame. "It’s okay, you can stay here as long as you want." He said brushing the tears off her face with his thumb. "I love you Isadora. That’s why I don’t want to hurt you." "You’d never hurt me and you know that. You controlled it, didn’t you?" She asked."What if I am unable to control it and find myself hurting you?" Alexander reasoned. "I know you can’t hurt me," Isadora said placing her hand on his. "I love you Alexander," she said the words that Alexander had yeaned in his eternity. No one had ever said that to him. God! Tears now stung the brim of his eyes like a hot knife until he couldn’t take it anymore and let them flow freely. "Thank you," he said staring into her eyes. She was quick to rub the tears off his face. "Thank you for existing," Alexander added making her blush. "I love you more." And as if throwing a tantrum at him,"Can’t wait tonight." She winked at him playfully but that only acted to make Alexander naughty. She’d pay for this, tonight! "Oh, the surprise! Let’s go hubby. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for me." She said in excitement pulling his hand but he stayed still, unmoving! "What is it?" Alexander rubbed the back of his neck nervously, his gaze darting everywhere else but her. "Actually I’ve just revealed the surprise to you."Isadora " ".
