Chapter 186: History About To Repeat Itself

The rain came to a halt and rays of the once hidden sun cast light in the battlefield revealing a massacre of a place. Bodies upon bodies of dead Valorians had pilled on the area while the once beautiful city of Valoria had been reduced to ashes. Alexander stood in the midst of the corpses holding his sword. His gaze narrowed at King Marcus who stared back as well. "Poor thing!" He scoffed seeing how Alexander was struggling to maintain his balance. His once lively eyes had turned into zombie like orbs, and on looking closely, one could spot dark circles under his eyes. And despite the pitiful condition he was in, he had the guts to stand up! He could have feigned death at least."I wanted to die with honor," he said as if he had read Marcus’s mind. "That’s why I want to challenge you into a duel." He added without batting an eye. "I can’t wait to drive a sword through your chest!" Marcus grinned. He signalled a knight to bring him his sword. "I’ll kill you bastard! You caused my daughter’s death." "You should have stopped her but you chose power over your daughter’s life. Such a loving father!" He scoffed. "Watch your tongue boy. You’re going to die anyways. Spare your breath for your final moments.""I’m looking forward to it," Alexander replied with no hint of emotion. He knew he’d die anyways. Even if he killed Marcus, there was the witches and Crescians to do the task. "Tsk!" Marcus lips curled. Tired of the little banter with an already walking dead, he launched his attack on Alexander. Contrary to before, he could tell his movements were fluid, effortlessly attacking as if he was born for the task. Exactly how strong was this guy? Alexander blocked the incoming attack but he was thrown a few feet behind. He supported his frame with his sword before he could trip and fall. "How weak!" Marcus spat. "As if you could have defeated me without my powers," Alexander reminded him. Though it was the truth, Marcus didn’t care. All he wanted was to end his life. He launched another attack at Alexander but it was effortlessly dodged before Alexander’s blade cut some flesh in his right hand. "Argh!" Marcus couldn’t believe this weak human had inflicted injury on him. He looked more of a skeleton than a human! Where did he even get the energy to stand? "I’ll send you to hell you bastard!"Alexander smirked at his words. At least he had spared him the energy to spit the words he had in mind. An enraged Marcus swung his sword at Alexander aiming at his chest. Alexander dodged but this time, Marcus didn’t give him the luxury to compose himself. Another attack sent Alexander flying and landed on the debris. Blood oozed from the corner of his mouth. And as if that was not enough, Marcus walked to the debris and picked him up before punching his face and throwing him on the ground. He held him again by the collar but Alexander smiled at him! Crazy bastard! "What’s funny?" Marcus asked. "What’s not funny?" Alexander corrected before driving a knife through his chest into his heart. Marcus felt the sharp pain envelope him and involuntarily dropped Alexander to the ground. Blood stained his once spotless armor, a dagger protruding from the left side of his chest. Alexander watched satisfactorily as Marcus writhed in pain on the ground. At least he had fulfilled her wish and now he was ready to die as well. He lay on the ground and coincidentally, Isadora’s body was there, her empty eyes staring into the blankness of this cruel world. If Alexander could say she had not gone too soon, he’d be lying to himself. Just when he had started developing feelings for her, her cruel father came out of the blue. For a while, he lay there staring at her blank eyes, with it came the memories they had shared in this short lived life. His gaze shifted to her outstretched hand that seemed to be vying for his attention. He took her cold hand in his before a tear broke from his eyes. A shadow hovered above him but Alexander didn’t bother to look who it was as he knew he’d die anyways. "Such a lovely scene in a unexpected situation!" Came the annoying voice of the witch leader. "Such a pity I’ll do the final honors for the lovebirds." Alexander could hear a chuckle escape his mouth and the sound of a sword being unsheathed. "You did a great job killing Marcus. I’d have killed him anyways. Crescia deserves a great ruler. Are you ready to die?" He asked but Alexander was still staring at Isadora. "I should spare my words for my incoming rule," the leader sighed. The crows in the sky let out shrieked voices anticipating to eat to their full once the people present had left. The witch leader lifted his sword and drove it through Alexander’s chest but not a single sound came from him. Instead, more tears rolled from his orbs as he held Isadora’s hand tightly, but slowly, everything started to fade out, and with it all the sweet memories he had. All that was left was his desire for revenge upon the whole world. ’I’ll kill them all!’ He declared before everything turned to total darkness!*****Kael turned the last page, a frown settling on his curious face. The story had been so good that he had got immersed in it. Isadora moved in the bed catching his attention before she shot her eyes open, panting like one who had engaged in a marathon competition. Her eyes took in her surrounding noting the familiarity of it, she gasped in surprise. Her head felt heavy and her muscles sore and tired. Kael was quick to place the book on his side and loom over her. "Are you alright Your Highness?" Isadora simply nodded believing Kael to be a physician. "Where’s Alexander?" She asked out of the blue.Kael, who knew everything about her past, looked at her with a worried expression on his face. Looks like history was about to repeat itself!"He’s fighting the witches!" Sorry for the late update. I’ve been feeling a little under the weather lately.
