You Are Mine (English)
Chapter 894: Mistaken
"Do you know what kind of books he likes?"
Grace asked the secretary in a trembling voice. At the moment, she sounded vulnerable.
Hearing the question, the secretary was slightly confused. Though he couldn’t understand why she suddenly asked about this, he answered her honestly, "About economics."
Hearing the answer, Grace looked more depressive. She leaned against the cushion on the seat heavily.
She felt so tired at the moment.
Was she really his mother? Was she really qualified to be his mother? She never learned anything about his life. She just kept asking him to inherit the family business. After Jason gave up the family business, she wished he could achieve something in his career. She hoped he could get married to a girl born in a family of equal social rank.
However, she never really considered him. She never really learned what her son really wanted.
Jason seldom asked for anything from his parents. Therefore, Grace thought her son didn’t need anything. All she needed to do was to maintain the family and support him in the economy. When she rethought about this, she suddenly remembered that Jason indeed asked for one thing.
"Mother, I want to get married to Scarlet..."
He indeed told her before. But she ignored that totally.
It was the first thing her son asked for in front of her these years. But she ignored that. She failed to fulfill the responsibility as a mother. It was till this moment that she realized how much she’d missed these years.
Suddenly she thought about how a failure her life was. What was marriage? Was it really getting married to a man of equal social ranks without causing any disasters? Was it really only that?
Why did she teach Jason? Why did she support Jason? She wanted him to have a better life, to achieve more in his life.
But she never really gave her son a better life. She was wrong. Though she held the same opinion as her husband, her son might have a totally different idea.
She raised a bitter, helpless smile at the corner of her mouth. She regretted it at the moment. She finally realized she was wrong. She didn’t know whether it was too late for her to regret it.
"I...I might be wrong."
She said in a slight voice. Then she closed her eyes painfully. She sighed in silence.
Hearing her words, the secretary froze. He looked towards her in astonishment and said in a shocking voice, "Madam? Are you saying you are wrong? This never happens before. You, as well as your husband, are so proud. You never said this before."
"Yeah. Because we are too proud, we never allow others to fail. We never expect that we are also failures. We live a stable life together without any enthusiasm. We believed that it could be called happiness. We never expected that we were doing nothing but wasting our time. I was wrong. I was totally wrong. I suddenly realized I failed all these years. When I thought of those years in which Jason was a little kid, I could not think about any sweet things between me with my husband. Quite poor, right?"
Grace said in an isolated voice.
"I didn’t expect that you would realize this before. You still have time. It is not too late to realize this at this moment," the secretary said in a gentle voice.
On the way to the William mansion, Scarlet’s heart beating got faster and faster. She felt so scared.
Her palm got wet by her sweat. She felt so hard to take a breath.
In front of Grace, she might be a little confident. But when she thought of Jason’s father, a man that never laughed, she was really worried.
At the moment the car stopped in front of the mansion, Scarlet could not think about anything.
Looking at her small pale face and the sweat on her forehead, Jason felt so sorry for her.
Jason held her small hands tightly to warm her, "You’ve done your best. I would handle the rest. Don’t worry. I would protect you."
Hearing his voice, Scarlet felt easier. She threw herself into his arms, trying to calm herself down at the moment.
Jason’s body was so warm. His chest was quite strong. When leaning against his chest, she felt so relaxing.
She could smell the fragrance on his body.
After she gradually calmed herself down, she raised a slight smile at the corner of her mouth and raised her small head, fixing her eyes on him, "Do you really want to protect me? What if your father wants to kill me? What would you do?"
"He really could kill you. He could even escape from the sentence of the law. Be careful. You can stand behind me. Don’t get excited. I really don’t want you to be hurt."
He touched her cheeks with his big hands, fixing his gentle eyes on her.
His eyes looked so warm for her at the moment.
Gradually, she got energetic and brave.
She felt so great and comfortable while staying in his arms. She didn’t want to leave his arms. But the car had been parking for quite a while. If they still stayed inside the car, Grace might get angry with them.
"Let’s get out of the car. Hold my hands tightly. Then I would not be frightened."
"You can hug me all the time," the man smiled slightly. Scarlet could feel his deep love for her in his voice.
Seeing this, Grace standing out of the car, froze slightly.
In her memory, she’s never done this with her husband.
The most intimate moment for them was the moment when they stood together at those high-end parties. For others, they were perfect for each other.
Both had a high reputation in the society of the upper class,
They could not have any scandals. They could not quarrel with each other. They could not argue with each other in public. This was the model of how they got along with each other.
He should maintain her reputation. She should maintain his career,
They were the best couple for others. However, as a matter of fact, the only thing that tied them together was a piece of paper.
When Grace got pregnant, Zelda was too busy working that he seldom had time staying with Grace. It was such a difficult time for her. But she never complains to her husband. Sometimes, Grace thought Zelda never did anything for her, even when she got pregnant for him. All he did was to give her a sperm. That was all. Nothing more.
Now, when Grace reminded this, she thought she was so stupid.
If she didn’t follow the idea that a woman should get married to a man of equal social ranks, she might be able to live a happy life now.
Pitifully, it was too late to regret.
Jason opened the door and dragged Scarlet out. He put his hand on Scarlet’s head so that she would not crash on the top of the door.
After Scarlet got off, Jason naturally surrounded her waist with his hands and walked to his mother,
Grace turned around and stepped into the house.
She said in a considerate voice, "Don’t say anything later. I would talk to him first. I want to enjoy lunch. If you dare to screw it, I would not forgive you."
Hearing these words, the secretary immediately realized Grace finally realized something.
